Title: Misunderstandings
Author: Don Sample
Fandom: Stargate: SG-1/Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossover
Status: 14 chapters, Complete
Rating: PG

Often when I encounter a crossover the author just can't seem to resist pairing up the characters. Don Sample has resisted and I bow down to that kind of will power. ^^

The story begins when Daniel finds a dig that might be extra-terrestrial and wants to investigate. We then find out that Giles had been involved in a cover-up with the Watcher's Council because they believe the dig is demon related (or, as the Initiative would say, "sub-terrestrial"). When Daniel contacts Giles, the Scoobie gang realizes that they have to make sure that the SG-1 team doesn't find anything.

Chaos ensues.

What I liked about "Misunderstandings" is just how unwilling everyone was when it came to sharing information. Too often I read a crossover where every character is leaping to give away all kinds of secrets. WTF? Like the SG-1 characters are just going to give away classified info? Like the Scoobies are just going to tell everyone (especially military-type people) about demons? Of course not.

It's fun to watch the two teams try to dig up information about each other. But the best part was the ending. Kick ass ending. It also gives us something to contemplate: demons or aliens--can one species be both?
