Video - The Pharos of Ridorana and What Transpired There

Jan 28, 2012 07:43

[The video comes on, but it appears as no place in the Underworld. At least no place any have been. A man lays prone upon the ground, and at first it might seem to be Balthier, aged thirty years. But as the video progresses, it becomes apparent this is not the case.]

[OOC: This video has massive spoilers for the Pharos and Dr. Cid. If you're ( Read more... )

Are you there, Balthier?

Unfortunately.

I hardly see the purpose of showing these memories. What was done was done.

[He says this, but there is something hunted about his expression.]

[She stares for a moment with a vacant look before sighing. She is still not quite right after the last event.]

This place will take everything in your past and use it against you. Would you like to talk about it?

It is a kind offer, but the story behind those events is long and I'd do it no justice. What you saw was an end to a long six years, defined by war, madness, cowardice and slaughter. It was not the end I would have chosen, but it was an end nonetheless.

[Have an uncertain-looking Minako.]

[There's a bit of an awkward pause, and she begins to look embarrassed.]

Ah, sorry. The Underworld is playing nasty tricks again. Are you all right?

[He considers lying. But then again, he just relived the memory of killing his father and watching a friend and mentor sacrifice himself.]

I am... shaken. But I have been worse

[Okay, it just feels awkward seeing these memories being played out for others to experience. Charis hesitates before actually saying anything.]

That looked unpleasant.

I would say that is an understatement, but yes. It was definitely unpleasant. But it is done. There was... no other path.

That hardly makes it suck any less.

[He laughs.]

Indeed. But I expect our captors wish us to wallow in self-pity over memories passed, and I don't hold with such things. I have mourned the dead and accepted the guilt for my part in how things played out. There is naught else to be done.

[That didn't look pleasant, and Remy knows a thing or two about losing people due to situations beyond your control.] Family of yours?

You could say that, yes. You are fortunate that you didn't have to hear his various wordings of putting the reigns of history back in the hands of man.

[He shakes his head, and the bitterness is short lived. For a moment, he just seems sad. But that is gone too.]

It is no matter though. There is much to do, and I have little time to squander on the past.

Heard crazier, homme. [I've said crazier myself.] Dere's a reason it's dere instead of now.

It was a little disconcerting when he seemed to be ranting about such things to his desk lamp.

Reason has little to do with it, but you're right. The past is past, yes?

[He still looks more than a little rough around the edges. That doesn't stop him from wincing at the video that just played.] That looks like some rough shit. [A beat.] Who's the bunny girl?

To call a Viera woman such as Fran a 'bunny girl' is either an act of excess bravado or excess ignorance. [He gives a low laugh.] I take there are few Viera in your world?

I'll take ignorance for 500, Alex. What's a Viera, aside from a were-bunny, obviously.

Enough with the bunny! [He shakes his head, a wry smile on his face.] You're lucky there are none about this place, or you'd not be walking right now. In Ivalice, to call a Viera or Moogle so derogatory a thing... well it is akin to calling a Baanga a 'lizard'. ...Or... well, you don't have other races in your world do you? Just humes, right? So it may be a little hard to explain and I am no man fit to discuss the troubles of those who are not hume face in Ivalice ( ... )
