[The video comes on, but it appears as no place in the Underworld. At least no place any have been. A man lays prone upon the ground, and at first it might seem to be Balthier, aged thirty years. But as the video progresses, it becomes apparent this is not the case.]

[OOC: This video has massive spoilers for the Pharos and Dr. Cid. If you're ( Read more... )

[That didn't look pleasant, and Remy knows a thing or two about losing people due to situations beyond your control.] Family of yours?

You could say that, yes. You are fortunate that you didn't have to hear his various wordings of putting the reigns of history back in the hands of man.

[He shakes his head, and the bitterness is short lived. For a moment, he just seems sad. But that is gone too.]

It is no matter though. There is much to do, and I have little time to squander on the past.

It was a little disconcerting when he seemed to be ranting about such things to his desk lamp.

Reason has little to do with it, but you're right. The past is past, yes?

What is Venat? ['Cause I've had a hitchhiker like that myself before...]

Venat? I suppose it is not everyday one sees a rogue Occuria. Well, aside from the good doctor that is...Venat is... I can't sufficiently explain it, but Venat is an Occuria. I doubt that word means anything to you. They are undying, eternal things and harder to kill than an infestation of mimic-germinites. They are as Gods, though whether they are omnipotent creators of worlds or just very powerful beings that would paint themselves as such, I do not know. What I do understand is that they act as puppeteers to the history of Ivalice. Deifacted Nethecite is the strings by which they bind their puppet- normally one of Raithwall's line. That stone you saw in the memory is the power with which the Occuria tempt their pawns. Had the Lady Ashe not realized she was merely a pawn to them and resisted their wiles, she would have cut anew a shard of the Sun Cryst and waged such a war with the Empire that I have no doubt both Archadia and Dalmasca would have gone the same path as Nabudis. No doubt this was what the Occuria desired, as Dr. Cid ( ... )

Me? No. I aided in that last battle, and Fran and I managed to ah... clean up the aftermath. But ultimately the decision to be used or to change what fate would dictate was left to Lady Ashe. Though I'm pleased to say she chose freedom over vengeance.
