Monday was Harry's birthday, and he was celebrating it trapped in the Underworld with only a few reminders of home. He was part of the family, which meant that Ellen took notice of things like birthdays.
She didn't want to call too much attention to it, though.
Most evenings, Harry would raid the kitchen, looking for a quick meal. It was one of the perks of living behind the Roadhouse, free access to the kitchen. So on Monday night, she left a covered tray for him in the back kitchen. A full dinner, a thermos of fresh coffee and a slice of caramel pie with a single candle sticking out of the top. There was no note. But Harry was a smart man. He'd figure it out.
