Kate sat in her bed.
In a way, when she realized she was dead, it had been a blessing. At least then she wouldn't have to experience the aftermath of what had happened or live through the trauma and the pain that had been inflicted on her. So having to experience that anyway, well, it made her angry.
Maybe she hadn't lived the most saintly life, but she didn't think she deserved that.
Rolling her eyes, she glanced down and touched her side gingerly. A bullet wound through the heart and a surgical scar on her side. That meant she'd, at least, made it into surgery before she died, like Castle had said. It meant she had fought, that she hadn't gone quietly into the night.
And maybe, just maybe, there was a little bit of that fight left in her.
She rested her head back against the pillow, wondering how soon she could get herself back up on her feet. Kate had never been one for sitting and waiting, and even dead, there was no exception to the rule. She still had things to do; she still had two people who were alive and well and needed to get home. And then, after that, she had a couple of "Thank You For Not Letting Me Bleed To Death Again" letters to send.
