The case for manipulation
When the building is on fire, you don't stand by the door and point to the exit hoping that the people who are asleep will choose that moment to rouse themselves and look your way. You wake them up, screaming in their face if necessary, so they can escape; if that fails, you do your best to bodily remove them from the scene. You interfere without their permission.
