Things are good. I feel like I'm hibernating in my basement, but it's awful out there. We're headed to Louisville on Thursday and I am so excited to be there for a real length of time for the first time since May. I can't wait to see 50 degrees again. My apprenticeship is moving along. I can now draw blood, do cervical checks, and theoretically suture (but I've only practiced on carpet foam and old placentas).
Unschooling is going well. Jules still can't read, but he's doing 2nd grade math, his art is neat, and we're really delving into history. We're part of a homeschool iceskating club and skate every Wednesday. Both boys are competent skaters now (to the point where I can sit in the bleachers if I want). We have a lot of fun homeschooler things going on this winter.
The plan was for Luka to quit preschool after this semester (because as a 3 yr. old he can do more fun stuff), but he wants to keep going-- more than he wants to play soccer, take swim lessons, or do gymnastics/karate/preschool Spanish. So preschool it is-- Luka's introduction to sports will have to wait until June. I sure hope we're not sacrificing his shot at a pro career. I don't love preschool, but Luka does, so whatever.
Also, it's my 5 yr. anniversary this week, and to celebrate, Rob and I are taking a kid-free trip to Puerto Rico Jan. 1-5. It's going to be awesome. We haven't been on a vacation without kids in like, 8 years, and we had a very, very short, very local honeymoon when we got married the June before last (thanks to the whole starting-grad-school-350-miles-away-two-days-later insanity). I spent over 5 years with a nursling or two, and it's time to get away now that the boys are so independent.
