Yesterday my tiniest child turned 3.
He then promptly sprained his foot, and hasn't been able to stand up ever since. We sent 3 hours in the urgent care where x-rays showed that it is probably not broken, but since his little foot is still so undeveloped, there's tons of cartilage that doesn't show on x-ray and can break. It's swollen up all fat and tight and if it gets bumped he screams. I don't know how we'll get him around, of course we didn't bring a baby carrier or stroller since he's 3 yrs. old and 35 lbs. of kid to haul.
We made it back to my mom's in time for his party, which went well aside from how pathetic Luka was (is). He'll remember that he had pizza, cake, friends, presents... not that he did all this while lying on the ground and we scrapped the games we'd planned since he wouldn't be able to do any. He got a Leapster2 from Rob's mom which he is now playing (and played for 3+ hours yesterday). We got him a bunch of Schleich animals, and he got a neat book and not one, but 2, darling handmade hats.
Luka is awesome. He's just great in every way. I know he'll do great things. The behaviors that were driving me nuts a few months ago seem to have worked themselves out, and he's very agreeable these days. He's generally lovely to be around and as cute as they come. I couldn't ask for a better child.
