Update!

I figured I should update this thing because, you know some stuff has happened.

Like me getting a story published in an Anthology! The Anthology is called "Feme-Fangs", here's a link to the submission's page: http://www.pillhillpress.com/fem-fangs.html. I don't think I've placed in the editor's favorites, which mean's I don't get anything for the project other than recognition. However, at this point I'm taking some fucking recognition.

I also have a 500 word erotica story for the same company accepted here: http://www.pillhillpress.com/daily-flashes-of-erotica.html that got me started.

So, I have two stories in two different anthologies coming out. It's small press yes, but it's something. Not to mention it'll look good on a resume trying to get to a bigger publisher and perhaps even scoring an agent. Here's hoping!

Ironically, the story that got accepted for "Feme-Fangs" was the second one I wrote. The first one was this really interesting character piece about a vampire chick named Ash who was actually Forest's first student. (And, as Yukie states, they're hetrosexual life partners, which, they really are in some form.) It had the Russian Mafia in it, Ash's very vigilante activities getting her into trouble and cameos from Quinn and Fore.

My husband really liked the story so I was hopeful when I sent it in.

It was rejected. Ironically, this was my second rejection from this company. The first was for a werewolf story that really didn't fit the whole horror vibe and I could understand why it was rejected. (That story I submitted to the hero/villain anthology they're currently taking submissions for.) So a bit disgruntled, I went, "Fuck it!" and went to writing the vampire chick that I know so well.

5,075 words later (including my name, address and biography at the end of the story), which as if you probably know and read me, is a SHORT story for me. It's like almost a drabble for me! Anyway, I went in a totally different direction than the Ash Story with Forest having a really, really bad night (The story's called "Night of the Suck" btw). I went camp and a bit tongue and cheek with it as well as a heavy dash of pulp.

My loving husband proof read it, bitched about a gun mistake that I had to correct, and proceeded to warn me, "Jenn, don't be too surprised if this one's rejected. They don't know the established characters and stuff. It's good, but don't be surprised by it being rejected."

And, ironically, that's the story that get published.

It's Ironic in an Alanis Morsette sort of way.

Sooooo update!

Not to mention, family and friends have been bugging me to try to write paranormal romance. Which is really frustrating because I have ideas for one, but . . . Yarp.
