What an oddly-shaped day

Jan 06, 2017 02:16

After being so tired/sleeping so badly over the past few days, I let myself not set an alarm this morning, thinking I might sleep until 11 or so. I woke up at 10 instead, and even made it as far as thinking I'd get up, before that plan was destroyed by Jinksy being snuggly until I fell asleep again...which lasted until 1:30 PM. And even then I think I didn't manage to get out of bed until more like 2. o_o That obviously took a massive bite out of my available working time, given that we had evening plans, so rather than dig back into my current active rewrite, I read the translation for what I'll be working on next (for the other publisher) and then finished working out the (hopefully-)final version of a single line that had me trading multiple emails with the translator.

(That last bit is not normal. I've adapted entire chapters in less time than we spent hacking at that sentence/concept.)

After that, there was socializing.
scruloose and I went for ramen with Ginny, Kas,
seolh (who's finally back in town, at least for a semester, after being away for basically all of 2016), and [now-former co-worder who Ginny and I claimed as FRIEND, and who I need to consult with about how she wants to be referred to in spaces like this]. Ginny and Kas headed home after dinner, but
seolh and [J], who met tonight for the first time, came over to our place to hang out. Judging by the fact that they were both here until after 11, I'd gonna hazard a guess that they liked each other. ^_^

Jinksy and Claudia got even more attention than usual when we have company (if that's possible);
seolh is their Best Babysitter, and they hadn't seen her in months, so there was much playing. And [J] hasn't got all that much positive experience with cats, so spending time with ours seems to be opening up new horizons in the "wow, cats can be truly awesome!" department, which is lovely to see. (As the two of them were leaving,
seolh scooped Jinksy up and held him to the window in the front door so he could look out while she said goodbye, and then Jinksy laid a paw on [J]'s fingers, so there was "hand holding" for a while. SO CUTE.)

Up next, two days where I have no social plans or (AFAIK) any need to leave the house. Time to charge my introvert batteries as much as possible before next week.
