--Seeing so many people making intro/info posts reminded me for the first time in ages that I don't have a public one. I should probably fix that.
--To go along with yesterday's extensions on professional stuff,
fandom_stocking announced that reveals will happen on the 11th, not the 6th. That doesn't guarantee that I'll get anything written, but it sure improves the odds! Wish me luck. o_o
--I had an abrupt, severe mood crash this evening--bad enough that I almost called off hanging out with
wildpear, except that it was close enough to when she usually comes over that I thought it might not be enough notice. But we traded a few texts, and then dinner was ready and food helped, and ultimately she did come by for a couple of hours. I'm glad it worked out; what with the holidays it felt like ages since we'd hung out.
--My hair is freshly re-purpled! One of the benefits of this type of dye (besides the magical "no bleach required" element) is that we can keep changing how the colors are layered, to some extent. We talked about lightening the purple a bit when the front of my bob is grown out more, and meanwhile the deep purple has been refreshed overall and I now only have teal streaks (last time it was teal and navy, and the time before--when we were only putting streaks in on my natural brown--it was the purple with green, navy, and teal, IIRC).
One of the downsides of this dye is that it really stains skin, and of course some always gets away no matter how careful you are. My stylist is very careful, but I do have some purple at one temple and some teal at the other, and I'll probably spend the next little while reminding myself constantly (or at least whenever I see my reflection) to leave it alone. >.> Last time, back in November, I kinda got a little carried away with trying to wash it off. Because scrubbing worked! It just...worked a little too well. Poor skin. [Details redacted because ew.]
--I mentioned to
wildpear that on Christmas my parents continued to show no sign of noticing the purple (after not commenting on it when
scruloose and I were at their place to help decorate their tree). She (maybe half jokingly) suggested that maybe once I'd gone with the fairly rich red, lo these many years ago, they'd mentally filed my hair under "no longer the perfectly good color God gave her" and tried not to think about it anymore.
--It's a good thing the new office chair is working out, because Jinksy's already put some small scratches into it. He liked to sometimes jump up onto the (somewhat high) back of the old one and crouch there for a minute before coming down onto my lap over my shoulder, and the fact that the new one has an equally high back and a headrest (which provides a much smaller landing spot) isn't deterring him from this habit. He's already done it a few times. So I guess the chair is cat-approved and definitely staying.
--And speaking of things that came home because of Boxing Week sales, today's mail brought
my new Fluevogs...and now I have two types of 'vogs in more than one color. ^^; The good news is these ones are comfortable flats, though (I'm not great at heels, although sometimes I succumb to heeled Fluevogs anyway), and they're the colorway I truly wanted last May, when I bought the
black and ivory version as my "
emergency Fluevogs". (The other style I have two of are the Malibrans in
dark purple and
wine; in their case, I bought the wine ages ago because I loved the shoe, and then when they brought it out in my favorite color much more recently, I couldn't resist.)
Fortunately, the mail also brought a paycheque.
