So after studying the history of Islamic terrorism, specifically Osama Bin Laden's stint throughout the last 10 years. It turns out that Bin Laden travelled to Sudan, a civil war-torn country, in 1993. Sudan was polarized between its Northern Muslim and Southern Christian populations. Bin Laden, in an attempt to support the Muslims, backed Sudanese "freedom fighters," eventually giving the Muslims control over the state. He also set up a myriad of training camps for terrorists to operate out of. In 1996, however, Saudi Arabia, wary of Bin Laden's effect on their US and Western relations, revoked his passport and his family broke most ties with him. Sudan followed suit in 1997 and expelled Bin Laden from their land. They offered to extradite him (keep in mind this is after Bin Laden claimed responsiblity for the first World Trade Center attack in the early 1990s) to the United States, but the Clinton Administration refused fearing a long, arduous criminial trial. Apparently the criminal trial is more exasperating to the United States than cleaning up the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Now correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this little piece of not well-known information make the criticism of Bush's policy concernnig information about 9-11 seem petty? Bin Laden was handed to the US on a silver platter and the Clinton Administration refused. Now the Democrats blame Bush. Once again, Democrats poorly represent the educated public.
End.
