Brazil (formerly Jets to Brazil): These guys were decent. They sounded pretty good overall, but the drummer wasn't as tight as he probably should have been. I like their style, very prominent on the piano, but they got old fast I guess. Overall, I liked them a good amount though.
Funeral for a Friend: Started out strong with a nice, metal riff-laden song, I got into that, but it went downhill from there. They were moderately tight, but they soudned just like Thrice and they bored me. Overall it was mediocre.
Rainer Maria: My philosophy on this band is that they should have just rained legions of arrows down on the crowd killing everyone and saving them from the misery provoked by a girl-led emo wanna-be band. I'm going out on a limb here, but girls just shouldn't sing in bands (I know this is going to get me attacked by feminists and obnoxious people). How many good bands ever had girl singers? I used to think Evanessance until I listened to the CD. Fleming and Jon was pretty good, but they were just wierd. Fleetwood Mac, decent, classic. Everything else has been garbage. Name a good female-led band besides the three mediocre examples I put forward. What? I can't hear what you're saying. What's that name? I can't hear you...oh you're not saying anything because they don't exist. Enough said.
Sparta: I thought Sparta would be way better than they were, but I guess I was hoping for more of the progressive artsy stuff they used to put out before they became like most of those "the" bands that are out now. I was pretty disappointed. On top of that, the singer made a fool of himself by talking about the "f**** up war in Iraq that's getting more f***** up every day. So when it comes time to f****** vote..." and then he trailed off. I guess it's just me, but don't people who talk about politics (or talk in general) just sound totally ignorant when they swear? Somebody smart (I sadly forget who, and don't feel like walking into the next room to ask Jake) once said "swearing is the language of the ignorant who have no words to express what they want to say." So true. Sparta guy was a fool needless to say and I didn't like them.
Coheed and Cambria: Awesome as always. I love Coheed. They're always just so incredible. Here is their set list in order:
1. Intro to In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
2. In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
3. Three Evils (Embodied in Love and Shadow)
4. Devil In Jersey City
5. A Favor House Atlantic
6. Delirium Trigger
7. Velourium Camper III: Al the Killer
8. Velourium Camper I: Faint of Hearts
9. Blood Red Summer
10. The Crowing
11. Time Consumer
12. Everything Evil
Amazing set totally packed with everything awesome Coheed has to offer (which is a lot of awesome). The ended with their usual Everything Evil with jam breakdown in the middle, this time a stupid one they decided to make last for 15 minutes just to be funny in which the same reggae/funk riff was played over and over while Claudio soloed with his tongue and the lead guitarist used his Peter Frampton talk box. When this ended, and after they started it again, and ended again, they finished the song while some random kids came out on stage taking away pieces of the drum set until there was nothing left and they stopped playing. Wierd. But it was awesome and I recommend seeing Coheed if you have a soul.
End.
