Theft

So, I make wallpapers and collages.

And they are, apparently, good; good enough to be considered by some 'artists' a nice, umm, 'raw material' to cut, dye, blend and whatever else, and call the result their own work. And while I'm trying to be all Zen about it, not start drama and just cherish the thought that if someone steals from me, then, hey ( Read more... )

I'm so sorry you have to go through this over and over again. People never learn it seems. You have all the right in the world to be angry. You have spent a lot of time and effort on your art, for someoen to steal it like that is just beyond disrespectful.

*hugs*

Thank you! It's good to know that, aside from thieves, there are also friends ready to offer support :) *hugs back*

This is simply an appauling thing for someone to have done love!

I know I'm on 'dodgy ground' here as being a manipper I use other photographers work all the time, but with finished artworks, where someone has taken the time and talent to create something new, and original is a totally different matter. This person should be ashamed o themseleves.

The only real comfort I can give you is that in a wrapped way see this as a testiment toyour amazing tallent,as if you weren't half the artist you are, they wouldn't bother to pinch from you the way they do.

I know that doesn't make up for whatyou're going through very well, but you never see 'talentless artists' stuff being nicked this way.

You are an incredible artist love, and your work both in the Buffy and Potter fandom is head and shoulders abouve anyone elses.

Idiot 'wannabe's'like this person are but dust beneath your feet. And if nothing else they will be quickly forgotten, whilst your work will live on in our fandoms for years to come.

Thank you Sue dear! Your supportive words mean a lot. I know I shouldn't let these ignorant children upset me that deeply, but I can't help it. Like I said, I care about my work, and it literally hurts me when I see it stolen and mutilated :(

Me too :( You know how much I hate flames and dramas, and that I always keep my collisions with thieves private to spare my online friends the ugly scenes and not to turn my site/journal into circus. But I'm really lost and sick of all this :(

And to me, it looks like you're right about the fandom being 'protective' of stealing, at least when it comes to digital (not hand-drawn) art. Maybe it is really because the major part of them are teenagers. (Although, weren't Buffy fans teenagers, too?)

How horrible! You make the most gorgious art and instead of respecting your work they use it as their own? Even if they change it, it's still plagiarismn.

What is it with the HP fandom? How often don't we find plagiarists there, fanfic and fanart too apperently. Maybe it's the fact that it has a lot of young fans? I don't know.

Is it ok if I ad you to my flist?

I think you hit it on the head, most of the HP fandom is filled with kids that don't know that plagiarisium is stealing. No one has ever bothered to teach them.

The ones that have would argue that since the images that we make our work from isn't our own, that it doesn't matter in the first place when it clearly does.

It's a sad day when people can't give credit where credit is due. I understand being jealous of someone's cabablities as and artist and wishing they were as good at it as another. But at no point is taking credit for something that you didn't make ever allowed.

Luv, I'm sorry this happened to you. You have my deepest sympathies as a fellow artist.

Oh dear. It's happening still? I have looked at the stuff on the other site and totally agree that the Snape there is yours - but the Lucius one seems to be slightly different. Not being an artist - just like your lovely art - I can't be sure, of course. I do hope this stealing stops soon, as I can only imagine your frustration. *hugs*

Ah. You and laiquendai are right, the Lucius one isn't mine. I have just edited my post; thanks for pointing that out! I have no intention to accuse someone of what they didn't do. However, the Snape image is cut from my wallpaper, so the thief is still a thief :(

Thank you for the support! It really means a lot. *hugs back*

Is still stealing if only the one. I wonder where she stole the other half from? *winks*
