Made it safely to Canberra. Was... disturbingly easy. No one's asked for my ID all day. Not even on the plane! I. What is this even.
Conference dorm room is really pretty good. Given that it's a single (single! all for meeee... I know this is standard, but after America... well.), I think it's actually bigger than my dorm at UW; definitely has more clothes space. Only overhead bookshelves, but the desk is about twice the size, and also there's TWO chairs, both of them better than the UW chair, and also THERE IS A SINK. A sink! In my room! If I had a glass I could drink all the water I wanted! If I was living here I'd be tempted to invest in a kettle...
It's fully catered, too! All my food is freeeeee. |D
When I turned up I was WAYHEAPS INTIMIDATED, because there were all these people in SUITS and almost all the abstracts are about ECONOMICS or POLITICS or SOCIAL MOVEMENT... and here I am, with my video games. *twiddles thumbs*
But I've met a few people now, and they all seem really nice, and I even collected a buisness card! Apparently that's a thing for academics, I dunno. Anyway, I'm kind of YAY ACADEMIAAAA~!!, which is good? But also bad, because FFFF MONEY. I need to find some way of getting some. >:
Got some prep done tonight, but not very much, because: TIRED. Bed now, might do some more in the morning post-breakfast pre-conference, depending on how I feel.
