More medals from the men! Francois-Louis Tremblay won silver in men's 500m speed skating, and the men's relay team took home the silver as well in the 5000m speed skating relay, just barely behind Korea's Olympic record time.
Canada's old record for medals at a winter games was 17, and the COC predicted 25 in Torino, so yay us! :D
The men had their turn, and now the ladies are back winning medals. Clara Hughes won gold in the women's 5000m speed skating, and Cindy Klassen won bronze, her fifth medal at the Torino Games! Kristina Groves was 6th.
Canada finished 1-2 in ladies 1500m speed skating. Congratulations to Cindy Klassen (gold, and her 4th medal of the 2006 Games) and Kristina Groves (silver).
Edit: The ladies also medalled in the 3000m speed skating relay, finishing with a silver. Go girls! :D
Despite being outshot 33-16, Canada hung on by the skin of their teeth to win 3-2 over the Czech Republic on the strength of three first-period goals. Brodeur was spectacular, and Canada's in third place in Group A.
