Interesting conversation day
At school today, I had a small discussion with a couple of people from my class about the hot topic in Norway these days, whether or not Muslim policewomen should be allowed to wear their hijab at work. It was nice getting more perspective on the matter, but I still don't think there are any good arguments against it.
Then, at the boardgaming event, both Hans and Rakel showed up, yay! We played Munchkin, and I won, despite the countless warnings that "Patrick's gonna win, he always wins, don't help him!!!". Awesome. And then, when people sought revenge in Sitting Ducks Gallery, I won there too. :D Anyways, it was really nice seeing Rakel and Hans there, and it was the greatest gaming evening in a long time.
On our way home, I, Amund and Hans talked a lot about politics and stuff, and it was really interesting. I think it's a shame I never got to be better friends with Hans (and Jon and others) during junior high, because he's one of the people I feel I get to see way too rarely. I especially think it's interesting how I and Hans agree on much, and can have really deep and interesting conversations, considering our obvious differences in religious views, among other things.
When I got home, I also had a long and very interesting talk with my mom about stupid people and society and politics and various topics (among them the hijab-controversy), and I discovered (not that I suspected otherwise) that we're really alike, and agree on a whole lot of matters. Kind of funny, since most of the "stupid" people in the family are on her side, while my father's family is smarter and more reasonable (by "smart/stupid" I refer to the ability to think for oneself and see things from more than one angle, not pure intelligence, although they may often be related).
All in all, a great day. And I'm very much looking forward to the winter break next week, in which I will be joining my entire family for one last dinner (yeah, really biblical, I know XD) at Big Horn Steak House on Saturday, probably move sometime during the weekend, and hang out with Amund and Gunnar. Wonder if I'll be able to watch the hundreds of anime-episodes I have planned between all that and work. >__>
