Good morning. This is Arashi's Ohno Satoshi.
Here's today's thought of the day; come on!
"Endurance is a treasure of a lifetime."
[BGM 'Bad Boy']
This is an idiom that means being able to put up with hardships is something important that will get you through a lifetime.
'Endurance' (堪忍/kannin) can be written as 'put up with' (耐えて忍/taete shinobu) and can be said to mean to forgive anger from others or to endure suffering.
This was sent in by listener Sena-chan. The message reads:
"Even if I may hate it, I want to always admit and forgive others. Although enduring hardships is extremely difficult, I want my intolerant self to have a patient heart and keep calm."
Oh. Well, keeping calm is the number one thing.
Occasionally, there are times when you just have to put up with things. Yeah. That's life.
Right? Putting up with things isn't easy, is it? Yeah.
That's how life goes on. There's definitely no such thing. Winter always becomes spring. That how it is. So even that thing that you're putting up with - at some point you'll see the light. A new door will open up to you.
(laughs) I said such good things first thing in the morning! Even I'm laughing!
Yeah. Well, but same goes for everything.
Even for fishing. If I can't catch anything, just put up with it. Endure. After that, there'll be a big haul. As long as you endure.
It's just that I can't put up with it. (laughs) I end up falling asleep. "Ahh, I'm not catching anything! Let's take a nap!"
Or like, "Let's eat!"
So that's why I can't catch anything.
I know this, personally. But well, there are things where you just want to take it easy.
Mm. That's right, I went fishing in January! I didn't catch much, but I like just that carefree feeling of being on a boat.
Yeah, so after everything all ended, by the time I got home, it was 4AM. So I figured I'd just head out straight from there. It was probably New Year's day? The first sunrise of the New Year or something. You'd want to see it, right, folks?
So that's why I figured that time would be the most crowded. Even if I went at that time, in any case, I figured there'd be a possibility I'd be spending a lot of my time on the boat asleep anyway. So when I went home at 4AM, I took a bath and slept until 9AM. Then at a little past 10, I went to the fishing spot.
But like I fished until it was night. There was
black rockfish and stuff. Well, they were small, but I caught them! It's been a while that I've done night fishing. Not only that, I didn't use a reel for rockfish. I only had my old one where the line couldn't be wound up, so I figured I better buy one. So I went on 1st January.
So on in the time between 31st December, New Year's Eve, I had 3 hours free. I went to a fishing supplies store.
I'm sorry folks, amidst all that commotion... I'm sorry. I mean, I had 3 hours free!
So because of that, I cheerfully went to the fishing supplies store and bought a reel for rockfish.
So riding on that cheerfulness, I tackled Kouhaku!
That's all; this was Ohno Satoshi!
