Good morning. This is Arashi's Ohno Satoshi.
Here's today's thought of the day; come on!
"Children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them."
[1] [BGM 'Bad Boy']
(laughs) That was in English.
This is a quote by an American author
James Baldwin. Translated into Japanese, it means that children aren't very good at listening to the words of older people, but they're very good at imitating older people.
Ah, I see. Well, but children do imitate people, huh? Mm. I used to imitate people all the time. Like how my dad walked and stuff. I often used to imitate the way he'd walk. I probably did a lot of imitations of movements.
Mm. Like, I was in the badminton club. I'd imitate how my seniors walked. Like, it'd be strangely cool-looking, right? So at one point, I'd do that sort of walk. Mm.
I mean, once, 'Terminator 2' used to be popular. I was a 5th grade student. It was pretty bustling back then, right? So I watched it too, and then the Terminator in 'Terminator 2' would walk indifferently and expressionlessly, right? That's what made it so ominous.
So back then, I'd entered a stationery shop while imitating the Terminator. I mean, I wasn't wearing sunglasses, though. (laughs)
So as a kid, I went in there imitating the Terminator. I just went in. And then the shopkeeper was like, "Welcome. Are you looking for something?"
And I just looked at their face for a moment, and then just left, still imitating the Terminator.
Since I was a kid, I was thinking like, "Was that person scared of me?" I was so silly. (laughs)
Like, imitating the way people walked... That was probably what I did most. Like, the way people walk is definitely... I'm bow-legged, after all, so like I can tell when there are people whose walk I definitely can't imitate.
Like, "Ah, I definitely can't do that person's walk!" And then I'd be kinda disappointed. Like, it's not the structure of the legs but like, I just can't do it, I thought.
But there are people where I'm like, that person's walk is great!
Like when they just have this incredibly buoyant walk or something. I watch how people walk quite closely, I think.
It's pretty characteristic, when you observe all sorts of people. It's like that with the way people walk, right?
The way people walk is different with each person. Like probably we each have a way of walking that's unique to ourselves.
You might think everyone's just walking, right? But if you really look closely, everyone's different. Mm.
So like, unexpectedly, there are characteristics if you observe certain people. Mm.
This time, folks, pay attention when you're walking on the streets. It's pretty interesting. Incidentally, the way I walk is kinda sluggishly, all bandy-legged, and when I'm walking all loosely, it's really all loose! (laughs)
That's all; this was Ohno Satoshi!
