Ahh... I'm a Tokyoite. The use of the term 'Tokyoite' refers to people doing things without a care in a world. This was sent in by listener Sacchan. The message reads:
"I'm quite fond of Ohno-kun's Tokyoite way of saying things like, 'bloody fool!' I'd like to hear you say that, so if you'd please. Incidentally, speaking of without a care in the world, are there people you know who completely disregard the whole 'senior-junior' relationship thing?"
Tokyoite terms, huh? Like for example, 'what are you saying?' in Tokyo style is... "What d'ya say?"
'Of course' would be... "O'course!"
'If you please' would be... "If y'please!"
Have I ever said any of these? (laughs)
Ah, but well, it's interesting, come to think of it. Certainly, 'O'course' is something I have the impression of women using it. I think my mom uses it. Mm.
So it has that sort of image. That's right. It's great. Like, it kinda rolls off the tongue.
People who don't care a whit... But like, there's someone who can say things that most don't normally say. That would be TOKIO's Matsuoka-kun - like when you ask him, "What about this place?" Just for example, like if you're asking him which he wants and if it's okay to bring along a junior and stuff. At times like that in the conversation...
"Ahh, sure," you'd normally say, right?
But that man goes, "Ah, got no problem with that!" It's really cool! (laughs) It only suits that man to say things like that.
'No problem with that!'
That sort of thing... isn't it something you don't really say? It's really kinda big brother-ish. "I got no problem with that". He says that. It's not really used that much. But I think of all the people suited to that, there's just him.
So like, the fact that he can say things like that is great,, I think.
So I deliberately ask him things like that since I deliberately want to hear him say it. "Matsu-nii, how's this?"
"Oh, I got no problem with it."
Then I'm like He said it! ^__^v (laughs)
Mm. So that happens. So like, when you work together, I find that there are lots of characteristic turns of phrase that he uses.
I have them as well. Like, it just happens. Even if you don't realise them yourself.
Should I take submissions on that? Things that I often say.
Not stuff like 'I see'. Like, there are others, right? I can't tell, personally, but like pet phrases and stuff. What would those be?
Right, so once I've gathered a whole lot of submissions on this, I'll say them all in one go.
