[BGM ‘A・RA・SHI’]

Good morning. This is Arashi's Ohno Satoshi.
Every Friday I respond to the messages received on this show.

First up is one from Ao-Yui-Mamam-san.
“Oh-chan, good morning. The other day, at the Kanjani∞ concert at the Ajinomoto Stadium, apparently the 7 of them performed 'A・RA・SHI' in those legendary see-through outfits. I heard that Jun-kun went to watch it on the opening night. Did you know about Kanjani wearing those outfits and singing 'A・RA・SHI'? Did they get permission from Arashi? I'd like to see that too!”

I see. Yeah, like when the 5 of us were working together, MatsuJun mentioned it. "They wore the see-through outfits!" As for permission, they must've got it from the higher-ups, right? (laughs)

I hadn't heard about it either. But well, since there's 7 of them in Kanjani, guess that means they had to make 2 extra? (laughs) And it was outdoors in summer; must've been pretty stuffy. Those outfits have been worn quite a lot, seriously. But well, I kinda wanted to see that. But Arashi are happy to let anyone wear that. (laughs) Yeah, it's not like it's something just for us. Yeah. Thanks for deliberately wearing those! (laughs)

Next, from Hijiri-san of Chiba.
“Ever since the start of the summer holidays, I've been staying up late a lot and by the time I wake up in the morning, it's almost lunch time. School will be starting in September, so at this rate it seems like I'll be late for school. Ohno-kun, please give me a good scolding [1]!”

I understand. It's fine though, since it's the summer holidays. It's called 'holidays' for a reason. So if you're late, just say, "Sorry, it was still the holidays up until yesterday."

But well, it's hard to get the engine started, right? That often happens with me. For example, like for concert rehearsals and stuff. It's like my engine just won't start. So I don't really move around that much in the rehearsal. Then on the day itself, it's like my engine suddenly gets going.

Yeah! Let's DO THIS! (laughs) And then you say to yourself, let's do it properly. Like with choreography, nothing happens until it hits you. Mm.

So Hijiri-san, wait until the time it strikes you... Even if it takes til October, just wait. (laughs) Well, good luck! You'll probably definitely have the switch flip. Yeah.

Next. One from Mana-san.
“Ohno-kun, good morning. I've always been listening to your radio show. Quite a while ago, in a magazine or something, Tsubasa-kun of Tackey & Tsubasa said, 'I'd like to do a theme where I dance together with Ohno-kun,' but also said, 'If Ohno-kun knew I felt this way, he'd be surprised'. Please tell us your frank opinion of that. Also, if a collaboration were to really happen, what would you do?”

Heh, I feel like I've heard of that. It was quite a while back. Man, but that's right, Tsubasa... Like he's been around the world. I'm no match for him.

I mean, recently he's gotten an amazing body, hasn't he? Mm. I'm like... Once I was passing through Shibuya for work. And then like we come round a corner and bam, there's a signboard of Tackey & Tsubasa. So I was like, 'Oh, it's Tackey. Oh, he's naked. Great abs!' And then I glanced at it and for a second I didn't know who it was. Then when I looked more closely, it was Tsubasa. He had an incredible body. (laughs) I though that Tackey had a good body, too, but like Tsubasa, it's like you turn around and he's suddenly grown up, probably. 'Uwaaah, amazing,' I thought.

Before we even think about what collaboration we do, I'd like to see your body in person. (laughs) Let me touch it? (laughs)

Next, one from Saki-san of Chiba.
“Ohno-kun, good morning. And I'm sorry! On Fridays, when Ohno-kun goes, 'Every Friday I respond to the messages received on this show', up 'til now I've always thought you said, 'to the messages of pain' [2]. I thought that Ohno-kun was responding to the painful experiences that listeners had recently. Even now, I still hear it as 'messages of pain' sometimes. I'd like to start anew with that, so could you please say 'the messages received' once more? I ask your favour please!”

Eh, no way! Does it sound like that? No way, let me try saying that again. Here goes.

Good morning. This is Arashi's Ohno Satoshi.
Every Friday I respond to the messages received on this show.(laughs)

Ah, I heard it myself just now! 'Received'.

Right, so lemme try saying 'of pain'

I respond to the messages of pain on this show.

It's not much different, seriously. 'Received'. If I say it slowly and clearly. Right, so imma stop here today.

Man, like it's become harder to say when you keep doing it. Right, so let's say it clearly.

And so with that, the weekly Friday messages RECEIVED have been answered. I'll be awaiting your mail. The address is arashi@fmyokohama.co.jp. I'll be waiting for you to send me lots of messages.

See you next week; this was Ohno Satoshi!

[1] The word used here is '喝' (Katsu), which is an exclamation used to scold practitioners in Zen. Like in J-dramas / anime where kids go to a temple to study during summer break and a monk hits them with a stick when their concentration wavers...

[2] 'Received' = いただいた (itadaita). 'Painful / of pain' = 痛々 (itaita).
