An end in sight.

Well just a few hours between my last update and now... coughcough. I may or may not have had a little tantrum, but to tell you the honest truth it tends to happen each time I'm crafting something major anyway. I'm very hard on myself - a bit of a perfectionist I guess - and very impatient. I put demands on myself to be able to do something perfect the first go, even if it's something I'm new at. And I'm still very very green at drafting patterns!

So after deciding I really wasn't 100% happy with my first prototype (I went back and looked at my sketches and it just really didn't suit. The body didn't look the same, for starters, and it didn't have the bulk and weight and cuddle-ability that I was looking for either. So around 1pm I decided to just scrap prototype 1 and start from scratch!

So 1 tantrum and various handfuls of (sugar-free!) chocolate later, I had a prototype I was happy with (prototype 3!) and a whole bunch of discards.

And finally, after all that hard work (and an hour and a half of careful stuffing!) I had a Little Girl I was happy with.

(Please excuse her nudity!)

She's made out of a nice natural unbleached cotton, and I love how the little flax flecks make it look like she has freckles. I'll take some better photos to show off her freckles tomorrow when the sun comes back out!

Her features are just felt pinned on for now, but I think I'll embroider them on. I'm not sure if french knot eyes will get lost though. Something to play with, see how it works.

We decided (her and I) that the best course of action to give her some arms was button jointing. So the next step was to pick out some buttons!

I know they don't match but she told me that was part of the charm.

Can I start and finish yarn hair before midnight? Do I want to put that kind of pressure on myself? I think I might get it started (taking photos along the way so I can make my next post into a mini yarn hair tutorial) and maybe finish it off tomorrow. Maybe. Gee that sounds a bit wussy doesn't it! Back to work!
