Day-to-Day: Sun & Mon & Tues Nights

Jan 03, 2006 23:20

Two diary posts in one day. Tsk. (I have considered re-starting maati as a diary-type journal, whilst keeping this one for my film write-ups, photography, essays, etc.)
I spent most of Sunday either asleep, semi-awake and semi-drunk, or somewhere in-between. Several people texted me, I think. Paula was having a gathering, since she had not enjoyed Hogmanay. I awoke during late afternoon / early evening, and readied myself for said gathering. What had not occurred to me was the nightmare of getting a bus out to her place. In total the journey took me over an hour.
Once I got there, I must have stayed for less than two hours, before I realised I needed to get home again or else I would be stranded. So I slogged back again, this time going part way by taxi, costing me £8. In-between which; people chatted, we watched a B-movie (sp?), and people chatted over said movie.
I ate actual proper food on Monday, for the first time since the previous Tuesday. That night, Aaron came home from Glasgow, and we chatted. Specifically, I babbled and he hovered, added occasional comment to my babble, and replied to my occasional question.
During today I spoke with Lauren and then Annie about pub-quizzage, and decided to go along this time. Lauren was optimistic but unfortunately Annie could not make it. Oh; doh, I forgot to say hi to everyone from Annie.
Lauren arrived somewhat after I did, and I was a little uncomfortable sitting amongst her friends, since I had not spoken to many of them for some time. I bumped into (Squeeky Jane's sister) Maggie at the bar, and it turned out she was a (newer) member of one of the older-standing teams. Thus; I sat with them whilst I waited for Lauren.
By the time Lauren did arrive, her team was somewhat crowded. There was not to be room for me, and since Maggie's team were smaller and had more space, I defected to their team. I got an entirity of one question right out of the whole quiz, which was countered by my persuading the team of a wrong answer for another question. At the second from last round we were second, missing first place by only one point. Then came the last question, with a score of between 0 to 10. We scored zilch and lost five places. Meh.
Afterwards; with less crowds, I rejoined Lauren. I had noticed that Evie was about, in fact it was her & her partner that took the last two places in Lauren's team. However I was slightly surprised to see that Graham was around also, and even a little more surprised to find Paula had joined their team too. I said hey to Paula, who was on her way out, and then shortly after I left also.
My understanding is that Lauren will be returning to pub quizzage in a fortnight, and thus I intend to do the same.
