Chapter Six:

‘I’m going to settle this once, and for all. There is absolutely NO way I‘ll be able to touch her ever again.’

He slammed the car door and looked up at the marvelous white building.  All his anger had diminished, ever since he stepped out of the apartment. Yunho knew he was being too harsh, he shouldn’t have said it. But there were bigger problems to deal with, he had to push that aside. He didn’t think he was able to face the man anymore; Jaejoong surely had to hate him now.

In a way, he was fine with that.

‘Just go in and say it. Pack up and leave quietly.’ An unpleasant feeling knotted in his stomach as he reminisced what happened hours before, images flashing before his mind. He swallowed.

The door opened with the flick of his wrist, he took a step and entered into the living room, welcomed with a strong aroma of food. Pots were heard clanging against each other and the sound of sizzling oil filled the air. Seul Gi was cooking dinner, for the first time, in a long time. But that was only because he was never home to begin with.

He sneaked into the kitchen entrance, his feet sliding against the cool, tiled flooring; watching her back move around to grab plates for the dishes she had finished. He looked at the table behind her. Dishes of all kinds were laid next to each other, wisps of hot air escaped from the just made food. They were all the kinds he had adored.

When was she going to stop?

He loved many kinds of food.

Then he noticed the small list held with a magnet, attached to the refrigerator.  She crossed out many bullet points from it already, but there was still more than half to be done.

He watched her sweat, rubbing the back of her hand against her forehand, and sniffle occasionally. This was her was of saying sorry. Bringing the good memories they had together back then.

Seul Gi turned around with a plate of food in her hands; she sighted him in her peripheral vision. Almost dropping what she was holding, she looked at Yunho, who was calmly leaning against wall, arms folded in each other.

“Y-Yunho…you’re back.” She gave him the most natural smile she was able to conjure up, her eyes looking nervous. He knew, though. He knew her heart was pounding hard and she was trying to resist herself from exploding. Her fingers trembled as she wiped them with a dishrag.

Yunho almost felt sorry for him. But before he was able to utter a single word of comfort, the image of the cheating woman reminded him why he was there in the first place. He regained his posture quickly, gazing at her with sharp, unforgiving eyes.

“You obviously don’t know why I’m here, do you?” he spoke softly.           Seul Gi turned away to stare at the floor, she did not reply.

He let out a small sigh. “I’m going to file for a divorce, first thing tomorrow morning.”

“W-What?” she sounded so afraid, so vulnerable. Her head jerked up, gazing at him like a lost puppy.

He was the superior in this. “We are going to have a divorce.” He said this a little louder, a little clearer.

And she broke.

“Yunho!! You don’t know what you’re saying!!” she screamed, choking on the tears that emerged so quickly from her eyes. Her fists balled up tightly, her knuckles turned white.

“I know perfectly well what I’m saying.” He spoke nonchalantly. Seeing her in the state she was in had really hurt him, and he felt guilty. He was on the verge of giving in.

‘No. you’re stronger than that. She’s trying to manipulate you with her pitiful crying. Do it, NOW.’

“Yunho, I’m sorry!! I won’t do it ever again! It was a mistake, I love you!! Please don’t leave me…” Seul Gi was on her knees, wrapping her arms around his legs.

He…he was going to give in.

‘NO. Don’t give in you sensitive idiot.’

“No. It’s decided already.” He said firmly, kicking her lightly, telling her to get off. He was probably acting like a monster, but he didn’t want to hurt her physically as well. “Don’t make this harder than it already is.”

“No!! Yunho!! You can’t do this to me!! You can’t leave me!” She looked up at him, her face messy with tears and liquid that dribbled from her nose.

“Oh? And why not?”

“I…I…”

“What?!” What excuse did she have?

“I…I’m pregnant.”

He widened his eyes. No. It couldn’t be true; she was only lying to have him back. “You’re lying.”

“No!” she shook her head ferociously, “I’m telling you the truth!!” Her eyes pleaded him to believe her.

“Prove it to me.” He watched her eagerly scramble up to her feet and hurry off to the bathroom.

She returned minutes later, holding a small pregnancy tester, which she handed over to him. Her hands trembled in excitement. Yunho couldn’t leave her now.

Surely enough, the result was positive. Seul Gi was pregnant.

‘Seul Gi is pregnant.’

‘I’m a father.’

‘I have a child.

Yunho was speechless. He didn’t know what to say. He stared at the white object in his hand.

“Yunho, we’re going to have a baby.” She smiled slightly, daring to pull her arms out and wrapping the man tightly. Her head rested on his shoulders.

He didn’t know whether he was happy or not. Was he?

His arms lifted slowly, subconsciously; embracing the woman.

Their fight had ended.

“Min…I’m moving.”

“WHAT?” Changmin sputtered on the other line.

“I’m quitting my business, I’m starting fresh. Aren’t you proud of me?” Jaejoong forced out a pained smile, even though no one there to see it, it was for himself anyway.

“Why?”

“Just because.”

Changmin knew why. It had to be Yunho, the bastard who never came back to return his money and new shoes.

“Where are you going?”

Jaejoong pondered for a moment before answering. “Do you mind if I come over for a while? I promise I’ll find a job once I get there!” he spoke with determination.

“You know I wouldn’t. Do you want me to come over? To help you pack up? Moving all that furniture will be a hassle.”

“No it’s okay, I’m nearly done.” That was a lie. He was barely finished, he haven’t even started. “I’m throwing some of my furniture away; unless you want them. I…advise you don’t, they’re contaminated.”

Changmin chuckled through the receiver. “Alright, call me and I’ll come over to drive the stuff you’re keeping to my place.”

“Thank you.” The conversation ended with a click.

Jaejoong was grateful, so grateful that Changmin was there for him. That he didn’t abandon him, just like he promised. Maybe he didn’t need anyone else; maybe Changmin was all he needed. But Min couldn’t stay with him forever; he had his own things to do. Jaejoong shook his head, enough on that.

He avoided the bedroom at all costs; he was going to ask Changmin to pack that room up. He couldn’t bear to look at it. So he started on the kitchen; there really wasn’t much to pack there, just eating utensils.

He had bolted the front door shut. Five times, he heard a knock on the door, demanding him to open up. Jaejoong didn’t, he ignored it. And no, none of them was Yunho; the man really didn’t care about him. A single tear slid down his cheek.

He was leaving; he was really going to leave everything that happened behind. Including Yunho.

Really. Was he up for it? Was he able to handle it?

He shook his head. Yunho and he did not have a future together, he didn’t love him.

He was leaving while he still had the chance to.

Jaejoong had a new goal. He was going to turn his life around. He was going to make himself happier than he had ever been before.

And he wasn’t going to back down.
