Rosa Parks died today. In 1992, I sat in an auditorium at BYU on Martin Luther King, Jr.  Day and listened to her speak. This was before it was a holiday. I was amazed that of all the places she could be on Martin Luther King Day, she chose BYU. Here we were. We drive by the temple at least every Wednesday for soccer practice, and other days too for appointments etc. I always point out the temple, but yesterday my son spotted it first and pointed it out. Typically, my religion doesn't necessarily recognize Good Friday - but since moving to Texas it has become a day off from school, so I've noticed it more! As a kid, Good Friday was just in with Spring Break, but here we have Spring Break the middle of March, and then get Good Friday off as well ( Read more... )
