Black ju-jube
Was my first meal today at 3 pm. Never has one tasted so good.
Had a nasty migraine, triggered by trying to do all the things yesterday. Slaps self. There is also some weather.
Most bizarre and upsetting call to tell work I wouldn't be able to take care of my patients or do on-call. Co-ordinator freaked out. "You are on call!" I respond, yes, I know that. I have a migraine. I can't work.
What nurses can see your patients?

Because I have a migraine.
But I need you to do on-call.
I can't, I've been sick all night and am still sick with a bad migraine. It makes my brain unable to function.
I have migraines all the time. I wanted to reach down the phone and punch her. WTF I don't care if you have three green toes. I'm sick, I can't function safely as an RN, and you want to tell me you have migraines so that makes all of what I've said wrong. Thus I will be able to work and do oncall.
I can't talk anymore. I'm not able to work, not able to do on call. Hangs up.
What should have happened is co-ordinator should have asked me if any clients could be moved? What patients need to be seen by an RN? Can any be seen by an RPN? Are any time specific? Instead the fool had to call me an hour later - to ask me some of these questions. She sent me a semi-apologetic email - badly spelled, again telling me she has migraines. I've not answered. Going to speak to supervisor later this week to sort this out. If I call in sick, I can't be bullied into working.
I take my job/profession seriously. I care about my patients. I can't care for them while I'm sick with a migraine. I can't drive. Can't give advice to people about health problems over the phone. I could do all those things, but it's quite possible I'd make a serious error. It would be professional misconduct for me to provide nursing care while ill.
It's also a financial loss when I have a migraine. There are social losses too. I had commitments to meet with friends today. All that is cancelled. So are any thoughts of doing projects, brushing Brambling or reading a book are cancelled too.
I fell into some sort of coma just after this call at 7 am. Woke at 3pm. Brain is bruised. Managed to get to the kitchen once the black ju-jube's magical force hit. Earl Grey Hot, toast and marmalade.
Just had some re-heating chicken curry with rice.
