"Never waste a hot afternoon...Nobody's on Nobody's Side!"

Because youtubing at 2.30 am is always the best idea.

Anyhoo, let me establish a few facts. I am the slacker to rule all slackers, ms slackey mcslackerson, the slacker who converted slacking into an art form. I have my tut essay to do and a hundred million coursework ideas flying about but here I go... being very VERY fangirly over Chess.

Maybe it was the Chess karaoke I dled, but I thought it would be fun to go find Idina performing Nobody's Side in the Chess London concert; because despite the fact that I WAS THERE, biiatch, I seemed to have completely forgotten how she sang it. Fourty Pounds well spent indeed.

IDINA MENZEL NOBODY'S SIDE, CHESS LONDON 2008

Hokay, Adam Pascal? Fannoying. He really got on my nerves that night, and I believe I threw up a little in my mouth after his solo, Pity The Child. I think... i think right... he is a raspier reincarnate of Murray Head. Raspier reincarnate of Murray Head. Now Imagine THAT.

But oh idina idina idina. I guess the kindly way of describing this performance would be.... it really sucks. Which is a pity, because I see Nobody's Side as a kinda Florence definitive song. And I don't know, why does she keep bending so low and putting her hands to her face? :( oh idina idina idina. And those poor poor attempts at riffing (3.22 - 3.30)  :( :( :( oh idina idina idina. Why don't you do that high note that every Florence does, can you not do that high note every Florence does, pls in future do that high note every Florence does, at least even Judy Kuhn tried. Awkward, poor delivery, all over the place and one word: NASAL. End of Story.

(Still love her though)

But now for the real deal... hehe. I was wondering what could top Julia Murney's Florence in the 2003 Actor's Fund Benefit of Chess?... that I found this:

Chess Benefit Concert Rehearsal - Nobody´s side

The person who can top the greatest broadway goddess ever known to mankind is obviously STILL JULIA MURNEY, except this song was done in the rehearsal of the Chess Benefit. Me want the rehearsal recordings, but I can't find any and I don't think it was commercially released anyway.  :( : ( :( Bummer really, to have a better performance at the rehearsal than the actual concert. But this was in part due to that high note every Florence does, being drowned out by the over the top orchestra. Seriously, what is the deal with Chess orchestras? But OH MY GAWD, this performance. Let me just save you time and point you to 2.20, where you get a glimpse of the JULIA AWESOME - HIGH G SHARP, thank you very much. QED.

Ah Julia Julia Julia. She looks absolutely lovely with her straight blonde hair. Her dedicated acting (and it's a friggin rehearsal, people), emotions and effortless singing (clean, emotive delivery, minimal riffing - idina's pls take note). TOO AWESOME. TOO GOOD. TOO JULIA. I am so going to grow up to be Julia Murney.

ok, end of fangirling. I am almost twenty one and such idolatry... tsk tsk... SHALL PREVAIL! MUAHAHA!

Yeaps, I best be heading back to snorefest 2008 aka Cities and Modernities readings.

qed, fawesome, julia awesome murney, broadway blabber, sloth it up
