Here are a couple pics from the last VV update!

Anyway, heh, I looked back on little things I meant to mention on this post I meant to write a couple weeks ago and it seems like they all happened 500 years ago :P Welp, I’m posting from my new life for the time being, and am just about settled in! The painting situation’s recovered and improved (YAY it’s time for Death Valley September/October) even though the available time allotted has gotten shorter; I’m elatedly rolling in candy (well I’m actually working. But constantly seeing/smelling it), I’m a bit healthier and happier (knock on wood), I’ve already gone through the initial horribly embarrassing random fuckup I always ruin my composure and mystery with while establishing myself in a new environment (and hopefully that’ll be it)...and I’m just trying to keep things going in this new rhythm until it feels natural...As to the happinesses, I’ll try to go backwards a bit:

Saturday night I saw Storks with the fam group, mainly because we couldn’t really agree on what to see, and was pleasantly surprised, it was funnier than I thought! So character-driven :P It had great emoting and action animation, and came off warm and cute if slightly syrupy. I enjoyed that the dialogue was written to be heard by regular people and not by a certain demo of “kids” or whatever (resulting in shitty voice-acting). Good casting; funny people to say funny stuff. I don’t know what the hell was up with Tulip’s fluid retaining feet. XD All the identical (except for the Asians :P) babies were quite cute with their automatic mascara (although I’m pretty sure realistically more would be dead). Oh, and although some things were understandably formulaic, the main foregone conclusion I’d reached about the plot turned out wrong ^^ I had fun!

Wednesday after work I met R to go wait in line for Die Antwoord at Bill Graham Civic. Was rewarded by a fucking amazing view and a gigantic gouge-bruise in my leg, I think a lifelong-scar kind of thing :P It still hurts! I still can’t kneel! But the show was AWESOME. They put so much work and energy and planning and art into the fucking thing, these unique characters, the idea AND the performance, that my love and respect for them has gone up way more (and it was already up there). Before I never knew how to categorize them when explaining them to others, and now obviously I can say they’re a rap group :P But it’s committed performance art idea-rap...that also has some great beat, shock and flow in there on top of it all! Yay, young people music I don’t hate :P The show reminded me of the hip hop dance shows in Vegas, just on a smaller scale, with their hard fucking working backup dancers, popper-pretending-to-be-Ninja (fool me one time…) and weirdly muscular DJ :P The opener wasn’t bad either (Crystal Castles) - They made up with passion and percussion what I lost in coherence ^^

After that things get hazy timewise...at some point one of my very favorite Salon Buddies resurfaced (Is there an existing name for that? I made up Salon Buddies...people who you may or may not see much in your day to day life due to adulting and other such stuff, but with whom you share a great private interest based rapport carried on through email in selective fields like writing - so you still get to feel sometimes like you’re able to attend a salon here and there instead of being a harried hikikomori ^^) so I’d been having a great time thinking and talking on writing, though if I’m being honest it’s also a lark away from present difficult choices. Except I said I’d work on a specific work for feedback for that lark and got too busy to do that, so I’m larking away from my lark ;_; I mention this because I need to get back on it!

Although I did sort of attend a couple of modern not-really-but-sorta-salons...R and I attended another wonderful dolly tea in honor of much-missed Kelly, saw and enjoyed all the gang including some awesome new ones and returning moved ones, and then a couple weeks later were able to meet up with our local dolly dream duo J and M at White Chapel for a gin-cocktail soaked Sunday Dinner, which I hope and believe shall become a bimonthly (or however often we can afford it :P yay Halloween!) and expanding tradition. Holy shit the food was good, and apparently quite traditional English, and the cocktail menu nearly endless. Lavishly appointed...situated so one can isolate one’s group if needed), an elegantly subversive gem in the middle of the tenderloin. And they’re wonderful to hang with. Recently, I find myself really seeking out more people to talk to as I heal and poke my head further out. But it’s hard. I want to talk, not chat. Closely and honestly, about people’s suppositions and motivations, exploration of other people’s worlds - I want to reacquaint myself with the notion that I’m surrounded by all these other complex and unique universes I am denied access to, just walking around, that sometimes I can crack into and absorb a little. But as I recently discovered, my patience to go through all the BS required to get through to the honesty is limited :P

My last Shadowrun - ended on more of a fizzle than a bang, but it was a long and illuminating ride ^^ Now to quest for a new group! Missed Burning Man once again, but picked up a cool LED-ombre-leaf-mail bra thingie from Electric Candy Couture when I heard that might be shutting down, in the spirit of things I guess :P R’s cousin and new bride from our trip earlier in the year visited, which was awesome! It’s adorable how F picked up his wife’s Scottish accent in his English, and they are both so chill and lovely with each other and us we nommed on R’s sis’s lipsmacking beer battered fish tacos and went on a beautiful sunset hike (pokemon run for some of us - remember that shit? Blew up HARD before dying...I was tickled to see it, but I’m still protecting my phone with my tinfoil sword and shield) on Bernal hill. ^^

There were more happy outings and gatherings and stuff, good to remember, perhaps not great to just count off in a laundry list of accomplishments as if they’re tally points for me :P But importantly, this past couple of months I had rather some breakthroughs recalling how some of my motivations are shaped by my history, and how to both use that to shape some future motivations and possibly escape others. That was a great accomplishment in this space.

Next month, looking forward to Tom Segura (maybe), costumed Sunday Dinner, Resin Hearts (yay someone remembered me as a prospective vendor XD but, didn’t have time to make stock)! I am having a little trouble with the fact that I’m losing my IT peer group to my new job, though, they were great guys all ;_; As people pass out of my life other people pass back in...all still part of the great fraternity, and it doesn’t feel so huge anymore when they move around (famous last words).
