These "mass texts" aren't as "mass" as you seem to think...

Rant upcoming, with me thinking about multiple people but not really being *aimed* at anyone in particular - feel free to call me out on my bullshit if need be.

Just because I send a text to multiple people doesn't mean it wasn't meant for you. I'm sorry, but I'm too lazy to re-type the message to every person I want to ask/tell about about just to placate their sense that I wasn't actually talking to *them*. And if i cross-post a text to Twitter or Facebook, that STILL doesn't mean that I don't actually want your opinion. Believe me, there are PLENTY of people that are both my Facebook friend and are in my phone's phonebook that I don't send that text to. Just think of the text as me tagging you on the post: hey, I'm posting this to the general Internet, but I ESPECIALLY want YOUR opinion on this matter.

Yes, I could probably use to be less of an external processor, but STOP MAKING ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT WHO I'M TRYING TO TALK TO. If I text you, I'm texting YOU. You don't have to reply if you don't want to, and you can even request that I stop texting you, but don't do it because you're not the *only* person I want an opinion from.

ETA: In other words, when deciding whether or not to reply to one of my "mass texts", consider making the same decision you would if you knew you were the *only* one I sent it to.

frustration, friends, rant
