a lot of news happened, plus it's still ridiculously hot
what a weekend, huh? (especially for the americans in the audience.) we lost shelley duvall, richard simmons, dr ruth westheimer, and shannen doherty, then someone took a potshot at former president cheetolini, then jd hillbilly elegy vance got the nod for republican vp. and argentina won the copa america (google "copa america final" and see fireworks. it's very cute) and spain won the world cup and if you're my sister you're excited that carlos alcaraz beat novak djokovic at wimbledon. (she is... not a djokovic fan.)
also it's still hot.
saturday i helped my sister pack - because it can't all be major news and world sports around here :D - exhausting but productive - and after we filled ten boxes we had to go out and buy more boxes and also dinner, and we watched beverly hills cop: axel f because it's on streaming. it was fine? they got the band back together! (by which i mean taggart, rosewood, and serge.) plus joseph gordon-levitt was in it and he's always worth watching. but there are some characters you don't need to see grow up and i think axel foley's one of them.
sunday was artbeat (postponed from saturday because it rained) and i went even tho it was BRUTALLY HOT because i can't resist the siren call of local artisans. i got a couple of fabric glasses cases and a couple of prints (one for me and one for my sister's new kitchen) and a couple of photos and a pair of earrings shaped like fried eggs. (clearly it was the day to buy things in pairs.) and something called a sorrel refresher from these folks which was hibiscus, ginger, cinnamon, other spices, orange, some sugar, and some water and was DELICIOUS. and refreshing. and i met a scottie dog named ruby who was wearing little sneakers. she was very cute and very well behaved and i was impressed that she put up with the shoes.
today i got a haircut which is as always VERY EXCITING. i don't even feel like i'm covered in tiny itchy hairs.
conference planning continues apace at work. thrill. excitement. i still need to order name badges but i need the registration list before i can do that and apparently it's kind of a mess and also people keep needing to be added to it? that part isn't my job so i'm not sure what the problem is other than there is one. it will get fixed tomorrow because it kind of has to be fixed tomorrow.
