i am home from the wars and by "wars" i mean "florida". (spoiler: there were no wars.) actually i got back last sunday but sometimes reentry takes a while. classes started at work which means students are back which i like but which also means i have a shit ton of stuff to do.
anyway. florida was nice - i got to go to a lovely art fair (i didn't get anything but i did admire the
oyster paintings) and a fun farmers market and
lake placid (town of murals and named after the lake placid in new york by melvil dewey, father of the dewey decimal system) and florida southern university (for the
largest collection of frank lloyd wright buildings in the world) and another farmers market (where there were SO MANY WELL-BEHAVED DOGS) and i got a pedicure and ran errands and went to bingo with old folks and saw inherit the wind (first the play and then the movie) and a one man show at the jewish theater and ate at the cuban restaurant and at mom's friend's penthouse overlooking the water (homg) (altho we got there slightly too late to enjoy the sunset) and a fun burger place and i got to eat key lime pie altho we had to get it from the grocery store because nowhere we went for dinner had it! gasp! and we went to mom and dad's friends e and b to play dominoes (and then b had surgery on thursday :O but is apparently recovering fine) and the thing i forgot - because i knew i forgot something - was my cross stitch which i realized when we had some time to kill and mom just wanted to watch msnbc and i can only take political news for so long. and i couldn't distract myself because i'd left the distraction at home. sigh.
the weather was mostly good altho also mostly not super hot so we didn't go to the beach and i couldn't put my toes in sand but otherwise it was a good trip. and then i came home and have been busy ever since.
today was SO NICE - it was like spring - and clover has the african peanut soup again (altho this won't matter to anyone who isn't local to me) so i had some even tho it really really wasn't soup weather. a little more peppery than i remember but very comforting.
