some vids, some fics, some side eye at myself

challenge #13 - recs!

first, the vids:

meet your party (stranger things) - like the intro to a d&d video game with the kids and their various player classes. jaunty music, really neat edits.

rasputin (house) - fun and ridiculous and really well put together.

glitter & gold (hannibal) - it's voordeel and i gotta share their vids when i find them. also, the editing here is *chef's kiss*.

patterns (andor) - the patterns of cassian andor's life. this is so good.

what if star wars was a romcom? (star wars) - for the han/luke shippers out there. :D

second, the fics:

aziraphale dealing with substitute demons, by rainydaydecaf (good omens)

Aziraphale’s phone rings. He answers, expecting it to be Crowley. But to his surprise, it’s a demon he’s never met.

“I’m Crowley’s replacement,” the demon says. “He’s not done anything impressive lately, and Downstairs doesn’t like how ineffective he is at keeping you in line. So now he’s shuffling paperwork and scooping up hellhound shit while I do his job for him.”

"Ah... I see,” Aziraphale says icily. “Well, I most assuredly do not look forward to working with you.”

joe/nicky coffeeshop au, by monicashipsnickyjoe (the old guard)

Joe wouldn’t take it personally, some people are just like that and it doesn’t mean anything - except Joe’s seen the way Nicky orders when it’s Booker behind the counter. Joe has peeked out from the back room, before Nicky has seen him, and caught sight of that beautiful, soft smile that brightened Nicky’s whole face. Nicky has always been handsome, but with that smile... Yet the moment Joe made his presence known, pushing open the door, that smile vanished.

It’s maddening. Joe is much friendlier than Booker.

an unusual guest appears at the pearly gates, by wishingtoflylikeabirdinthesky (original)

It shouldn't have been there. I want to make that clear, by no law of the universe should that thing have had a soul. You humans are where closer to making actual AI then you are sprouting wings. And you never even tried with this! Its job was to collect rocks!

And yet there is was, beeping up at me.

the dragon and its cheese hoard, by laurasimonsdaughter (original)

The dragon considered this for a moment. “Ah, but what if-” he began. “What if you go and make more cheese. And bring me the cheese. And I put it in my cave, with the rest of the hoard. And then I keep it there forever.”

“No,” she said flatly.

It was remarkable how much a dragon could look like it had just swallowed a lemon.

i would like to thank the other snowflakes who recced original fic (and i think some art?) for validating my desire to do the same. :D

third, the non snowflake part of the post:

uh, i should be in bed? my sister and i are going to florida tomorrow to see the mothership and eat key lime pie and be somewhere marginally warmer. (well, i'm going to eat key lime pie.) the cab is coming to get me at 4:50 in the morning and i am not best pleased. i am however all packed. and relieved to be on vacation for a week. weird shit can happen at work and someone else can deal with it. i'm convinced i forgot something but i always think that right before i go somewhere.

wednesday night i did not make cookies because when i went into the kitchen and read the recipe again i noticed it said a cup of butter which is two sticks. i only took out one. the rest of my butter was in the freezer. so i took out another stick and left it on the counter to thaw and then soften and i dicked around online for a bit and went to bed. and woke up thursday morning like normal and baked cookies. and went in to work late. >.< (i did check my email but nothing needed my attention so i didn't feel bad.) cookies were good tho. people liked them. and someone gave up a stanley cup for the white elephant! the insulated cups that are currently driving americans bonkers, not the hockey trophy. those are... not crappy christmas presents. well, unless you don't use them. i guess.
