today was a day of SUCH SLACK. SO MUCH SLACK. SO, SO MUCH. i did eventually get my shit together and get something done, but man, there was so much fucking around before that. i wasn't even slacking productively.

yesterday morning i woke up like an hour and a half early >.< thought about all the work i have to do on my bang, remembered that i post on the 22nd, and PANICKED. so i skipped writing group to work on it and now i feel a little better. still kind of low-level panicking, tho. i'll be freaking out up until and even after i post.

i did the same thing tuesday morning. PANIC.

tuesday i also had a doctor's appointment (telemedicine!) (altho i do have to go in when the office finally opens so they can take my blood) and a dentist's appointment (in person! and it took AN HOUR AND A HALF for a regular cleaning) (what the hell). and i continued to caption youtube tutorials for work. tedious and productive.

and! i discovered that the bridge down the street, which has been closed since last march (so, a year and a half) is open to traffic! which means i don't have to detour around everything to get to the dentist and the salon (which is also open now!) and the coffeehouse with the bagel sandwiches (which isn't open yet!)! it's very exciting! now if the coffeehouse will just reopen so i can get my scrambled egg and cheese fix....

wednesday i had a zoom meeting with my sister and some cousins! during the day! (because i'm the only one who's fully employed.) it was quite fun.

there are banners on the streetlights on my block with pictures of graduating high school seniors on them. i think that's so cool.

the vasa was a swedish warship that never actually made it to a war. it sank instead. a whopping 4000 feet from shore. >.< where it sat for a few hundred years. and then someone figured out how to raise it.

so now there's a ridiculous fence around the white house, and protesters are covering it with art. nature abhors a vacuum. or a fence, apparently.

also nascar banned confederate flags at its races, and a statue of columbus in boston's north end was beheaded. (it was "found decapitated again", according to the boston globe.) (again!)

ten years ago a millionaire out west buried a literal treasure chest, complete with clues. people have been looking for it ever since. at least four have died in the process. someone finally found it. (there's a video here.)

the first american woman to spacewalk has now become the first american woman to reach the deepest part of the ocean. after which she called the international space station. heh.

this is interesting - a project to catalogue all the remaining slave houses in the us. the woman doing this (her name is jobie hill) got a lot of preliminary information from a program called the historic american buildings survey, which started during the 30s to put architects to work during the depression. some useful shit came out of the depression. :D

why does the us army own so many fossils? because the army corps of engineers tends to dig them up in the process of building, say, dams.

in case you were wondering who discovered the first vaccine, signs point to a chinese guy in the 15th or 16th century, years and years before edward jenner looked at milkmaids who'd gotten cowpox and realized hey, these girls are immune to smallpox too.

vaccinate your children you selfish fuck, protests, fun with the fam, dinosaurs, cool shit, architectural nifty, outer space, badass women, historical nifty, art installation, boats, bigbang 2020, personal care, nerd support
