happy birthdays to jola (late >.< ) and ladycat777 (on time?), fabulous ladies both. i hope that despite all the crazy, awful shit going on that you both managed to celebrate some joy.

dancing boys: *boogie*

my bang beta finally sent me some notes, so today i finally got off my ass and started the edits. i only post in two weeks. >.< i am not proud of this. i also had an idea for a thing i wanted to rewrite and am now in the middle of rewriting it, so yay. i also saw a draft from my lovely artist, and that was very exciting. i feel safe in saying that regardless of how the fic turns out, the art will be pretty fab.

because i did that first and then had a two hour zoom call with the fam, and then had to eat, by the time i made it to the grocery store there was a line! and it's been WEEKS since i had to stand in line! it moved very fast, tho. but the store had NO EGGPLANTS. NONE. ZERO. ZIP. WTF. how will i survive without my weekly eggplant fix?? (chinese takeout, is how.) there were also no sponges. like, regular sponges that you wash dishes with. what a weird thing to run out of.

(i also ducked into the hardware store to see if i could replace my alarm clock, since the alarm has stopped working - it still keeps time, it's just that whatever sensor sets off the alarm, doesn't set off the alarm any more - but no luck. i did find a pair of tiny scissors, tho. one can never have too many pairs of scissors.)

(by which i mean i now have tiny scissors for bookbinding and tiny scissors for cross stitch.)

i did the dishes, i watered the plants, i worked on my parents' anniversary cross stitch, i remembered to take pics of things because it's a glimpseatmyday day and i don't think i've actually done one yet. i also had chinese takeout for dinner because even tho there is food in my fridge! and pantry! i didn't want to cook. >.< and i was CRAVING chicken wings. the chinese place down the street has good wings. also eggplant. :D

yesterday i spent some quality time sitting on my ass watching tv (look, the mummy was on) and went to my sister's expecting to put a puzzle together - how wholesome :D - but we ended up watching a tv biography of farrah fawcett instead. i never remember that she was only on charlie's angels for a single season.

the story of black martha's vineyard - because the vineyard isn't just for wealthy white people who want to summer on an island. there was (and mostly still is) a thriving summer scene for black folks too.

i recently learned there's a thing called parasitic architecture, which is new buildings built on or in existing ones. it's a way to carve out new housing in places where the existing housing is really expensive.

way back when, the soviet union mapped the rest of the world in exhaustive and unexpected detail. not just stuff that might be useful in the event of invasion (military sites, bridge capacity, power grids) but information like the types of houses in a neighborhood or what the local flora was like. i'm really curious how they made such weirdly detailed maps, and how the maps made it out of the country.

wtf, martha's vineyard, psa, maps, weekend wrapup, fun with my sister, architectural nifty
