second the non-job update

the department meeting i went to on friday started with a craft activity - one of the women (she's not a librarian or an archivist but i don't remember her title) brought colored paper and paper doilies and markers and colored pencils from home, and the department head got fancy scissors and glue sticks and more markers from the conservation lab, and we made valentines. because it was valentine's day. i felt like i was in third grade but it was really fun. weird, but fun. the meeting didn't have much of an agenda, if you were wondering.

i failed all weekend to get some nice discount chocolate, tho.

on saturday my sister and i saw parasite and i don't know how i feel about it. i kept wondering how the central conflict would be resolved, and then shit started happening that i did not expect (altho it's the same guy who made snowpiercer which is basically two hours of HOLY SHIT I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING, so you'd think i'd expect to be shocked), and i don't know how i feel about the ending. it looked really good, tho, and the actors were all good, and i think it's a very well-made movie, i just don't know how i feel about the story. maybe i just need to think about it some more. i'm not sorry we went, in any case.

we saw a lot of horror trailers, plus one for a romantic comedy drama that could be cute and could be stupid, plus one for a french historical that looks like a lesbian french historical. the trailer was GORGEOUS but i don't remember what the movie was called.

my curling team LOST on sunday, altho we were down by four and actually pulled ahead in the second to last end. and then the other team won. hmph. the sunday before, we tied.

my bang is up to 12.5k and i still have to figure out where it's going and how i'm going to get there. also i need to do more research. i'm enjoying some of the random background stuff, altho so far there's a shocking lack of random cameos.

i want to make my parents a cross stitch for their anniversary - did i mention this already? - and have two choices: flamingos (imagine a second flamingo facing that one) or peas in a pod. what do y'all think? i have until the beginning of april to stitch it and send it.

i have no idea whose dog that is, but how random and cute.

i know valentine's day was a week ago, but the san antonio zoo would let you buy a cockroach and name it after your ex. heh. the roaches were fed to the zoo animals, so your ex by proxy would also end up in some creature's stomach. which could be fitting, if they were an awful person.

a little boy in washington state raised money to pay off the lunch debt at his school by selling keychains. i still have a hard time with the fact that school lunch debt is even a thing, but what a good kid.

these photogrammetry models are really cool. (photogrammetry is apparently the science of taking measurements and making computer generated models from photos. in this guy's case, sometimes A LOT of photos. i'd never heard of it before.)

doggie love, little kids are the best, photography, now i'm a library admin, movies, valentine's day, curling, bigbang 2020, cross stitch
