still surviving at work. :D two of the women i support are on vacation, so it's been kind of quiet for me. on wednesday we had a birthday potluck for all the september birthdays and i had a not inconsiderable slice of cheesecake that was DELICIOUS. omg. monday the other admin and i - did i mention there was another admin like me, who supports the same people, except she does other things? she also supports the departments overall, i think mostly with financial stuff, so between the two of us we make one complete admin - anyway, since we're library admins and are new to the library system, we're going around getting tours of some of the libraries and associated services. monday we saw the digitization lab, where they scan (among other things) ALL THE THESES. also fun stuff like people's donated papers. the lab's in the basement. and today we saw the music library, which is small and very pretty, and where there is (among other equipment) a setup for converting your cassette tapes or albums to digital. which is available for anyone at the u to use - students, faculty, staff. like me. :D
so that's been fun. also the potluck was good, and not just because of the cheesecake. library admins and staff are a friendly bunch.
i spent some of my free time today reading about the
various marches and strikes for climate change and being impressed at all the folks all over the planet who walked out of class and work to march and protest. the nyc school district excused all the kids who left school to march, which i thought was pretty cool. i mean, it's a big district. there were
some good pics, too.

as part of an experiment to study rat behavior, a researcher
taught them how to play hide-and-seek. also apparently rats like being tickled. how cute is that? it is so cute.
