five things make a post!
my sister and i saw crazy rich asians last night and it is cute and fun and sweet and romantic and gorgeous and made us both want chinese food. >.< it's full of pretty people (and some fantastic beefcake) and pretty scenery and some unfortunate clothes and some pretty dresses and it's just a lovely fairy tale. and i say that with affection, because i really enjoyed it. a lot of the actors have really nice couple chemistry (romantic and best-friend platonic). if romcoms are your thing, i highly recommend it. just be warned it might make you want to go to singapore and eat your body weight in chinese food. previews included something called widows with viola davis and michelle rodriguez, what women want which could be funny and could be dumb as shit, something from the showrunner of this is us that's full of actors i like but doesn't seem to have an actual storyline but which i want to see anyway, and a bunch of other things i don't remember. there were a lot of previews.
the world's oldest cheese was discovered in egypt, and (unsurprisingly) might contain a deadly disease. everything we dig up in egypt is going to try to kill us, isn't it. if it's not the giant black sarcophagus, it's the cheese.
i was supposed to meet tamalinn and a couple of her friends for dinner tonight (indian!) but she wasn't feeling well so the three of us went without her and i can probably call them my friends too. i think. is there something that's more than "acquaintence" but not quite "friend"? in any case i'm still really full and have leftover chicken saag in my fridge. yum.
one of the tax interns had her last day this past wednesday (or maybe it was thursday), and she wrote thank-you notes to two of the tax partners. they were addressed to "mr w___" and "mr b___", and i thought that was just so cute.
tomorrow i get to call a restaurant in washington, dc, to see if they can dig up a dinner receipt from the beginning of june and send it to me. i don't have a lot of faith that they'll have it, but who knows, i might get lucky.
