i really love this show

agent carter tonight was as expected full of squee and joy and random exterior shots of the chrysler building.

one of the things i really love about this show is that peggy's fellow ssr agents are smart guys and good at their jobs. (and she even acknowledges it about krzeminski - he was sexist and rude and a brute but good at his job.) as jarvis points out when peggy wants to tell them she found howard's stolen tech - he interrogates her like they would, like any thorough, competent cops would. they totally discount her because she's a woman and they're very much products of their sexist time, and they're not smart enough to make use of her talents and experiences, but they know what they're doing and they know how to successfully work a case, and it gives her secret investigation that much more tension because everything she learns, the rest of the ssr is only a step or two behind. or occasionally ahead, as when they drag jarvis down to the station. (and she was nervous trying to get him out! it's kind of weird to see peggy being so nervous, but i love it. it's so human.) besides, it's more interesting to watch the other agents when they're good at their jobs.

and man, is this show sharp with the dismissive way women were treated back then. it's like a stylishly-dressed mirror held up to the (not always better) way women are treated now.

so jarvis was accused of treason and dishonorably discharged for forging an official's name on documents to try and get the (jewish!) woman he loved out of budapest? "she was jewish?" "still is." <3! my love for jarvis knows no bounds. he's so calm and cool when he's being interrogated - until thompson brings up the treason, and even then you can only kind of see it as a tightening around his mouth and nose - and so stiff and weird calling in the tip to the ssr.

ten bucks that the person who shot krzeminski and the bruiser dude with the broken arm is a woman, and ten more bucks that she's the excited blonde dancer from iowa who just moved into peggy's building.

also, angie! i love angie. i want to see more of angie.

i would love this show even if they didn't keep showing the chrysler building in their random shots of new york. but it's my favorite building in the city, and its presence on my tv is a huge bonus.

vaguely surreal, definitely fun chinese street photography, as taken by a self-taught water meter reader. (he's outside all the time and has access to a lot of streets to photograph.)

our prehistoric forebears made and no doubt used prehistoric dildos. which probably shouldn't surprise me....

graphic designer creates font for dyslexic readers - apparently the letters are shaped differently enough to make it harder to confuse them. and it's free to download for home use.

this looks really cool - vintage book subscription service. it's in the uk but they'll mail outside the country.

photos, fonts, agent carter, books, sex toys, historical hee, cool shit
