What I just finished reading:
more powerful than dynamite, which i mostly enjoyed because i learned stuff about new york and progressive politics and radical anarchism in 1914 - also a bit about john rockefeller, jr, son of the richest man in the world - but it kind of bounced around a little and made a few random and not entirely relevant jumps backward, once to talk about the career of a cop who merited like a quarter page of the actual story. and then it skipped from the end of 1914 to the end of ww1 and the beginning of prohibition, i think so thai jones could talk about the death of the mayor of new york (he fell out of his fighter plane). interesting history, not entirely coherent structure.

What I am reading now:
the fall of the kings, by ellen kushner and delia sherman, which is making me rethink nano this year. >.< i'm all into it. all into the book, not necessarily all into replanning nano. scholars and history and politics and men getting it on with each other and the occasional bit of mystical random. i'm enjoying it.

What I'm going to read next:
possibly swordspoint, because the fall of the kings is making me think about it and there's a lot i don't remember. and if not that, i'm pretty sure there's something kicking around the house that i haven't read yet.

coworker d was out today, which was ok as my work day mostly consisted of me sitting around and answering the phone. i hate answering the phone.

trailer for avengers: age of ultron! i feel like this should have its own post. i hate quicksilver's hair (i have hair opinions, i know you're all surprised) and i cannot be having with that last image, but also james spader's voice excites me and i want it to be may already. i mean, i can only make squeaky squeeful dolphin noises at my laptop screen for so long.

first sex ever discovered in scotland - technically fossils of fish having sex instead of spawning, but you know. scotland: birthplace of heterosex. heh.

the story of london's cross bones cemetery, from its possible original use as an unconsecrated burial ground for prostitutes to its current use as a kind of repository for general memorializing. interesting!

historical nifty, paleological nifty, wednesday reading meme, squeeful squeaky dolphin noises, avengers: age of ultron
