yesterday was the anniversary of women getting the right to vote in the us. ninety-four years. so all you american ladies out there better be registered to vote, and when the time comes, you better take advantage of it. your female forebears didn't chain themselves to ballot boxes and get thrown in jail for nothing! but also, if you don't vote, you can't complain.
...possibly i have opinions on voting. but anyway, yesterday was a day of historical nifty, which is always cool.
if you've been watching famous people get cold and wet for the als ice bucket challenge, allow me to share
this compilation of ice bucket challenge fails. by which i mean, not-famous people dropping buckets on each others' heads. and falling over.
salmon cannon! for when salmon need to navigate a dam and no one wants to route them miles out of the way.
pancake batter + spirograph = awesome.
the floor plans are kind of small and don't seem to come in higher resolutions, but
these plans of swanky pre-ww1 new york apartments are really cool. to be honest if i'd had that kind of money to throw around on living quarters i probably would've rather had a house, but hey, there turned out to be a market for, er, up-market apartments.
durham cathedral is selling lego bricks to build a model of the cathedral as a fundraiser. bricks are a whopping £1 each and if you happen to be nearby you can lay them in person. but mostly, they're building a scale model of the cathedral out of lego, and that is the coolest fucking thing.
vertigo-inducing photos taken from illegally high up - terrifying and super cool.
for those of you who've seen guardians of the galaxy and like to crochet, or who know people who like to crochet, i bring you
a free pattern for a crocheted groot. SOCUTE.
hello kitty-ized superheroes - i know some of these went around tumblr, but on the off-chance some of you lovely folks haven't seen them, or haven't seen all of them, here they are in all their pink and sparkly glory.
lego flash drive - it even comes with a lego brick, because of course it does.
holy crap look at all these american cars - it's a poster, starting with a 1895 duryea and ending with a 2015 dodge challenger srt hellcat. (there's an impala for the spn fen, but it's a '58 and not a '67. also, it's orange. the metallicar would probably die of shame. and there's a shelby mustang gt for the gone in 60 seconds fen, by which i mean me, but it's a '65 and not a '67.)
