today is dr seuss' birthday. he'd be 106. would it be weird if i tried to dye my scrambled eggs green tonight, in celebration?

...i didn't think so. :D

apparently the olympic village ran out of condoms during the games and had to order more. *snicker* i guess 100k rubbers wasn't enough. (i wonder how many folks used hurry hard curling condoms....)

this easter, chocolate covered peeps - they sound more like peep-shaped chocolate covered marshmallows - they don't have all that colored sugar on the outside - but as a fan of the chocolate covered marshmallow, i'm totally down with that. it's easter candy. it's all good.

chile earthquake shortened time - as in, the day is now a microsecond or so shorter. i'm torn between amazement at the awesome power of nature - i mean, come on, the earthquake literally BROKE TIME - and a little bit of a freak-out. evidently the indonesian quake in 2004 did the same thing.

blood waterfalls - well, no, not quite, but it is red, and it is a waterfall, and as a bonus it's full of microbes that have been evolving underneath a glacier, without any outside influence, for two million years. we have alien life in antarctica! how cool is that? (link via mahoni)

roman remains in york determined to be those of a high-status african woman - proof that not all africans in roman britain were slaves. she was discovered in 1901 but it's only recently that they've been able to figure out where she came from and what she might have looked like. i love me some archeological puzzle-solving. things what are nifty, candy, links, nature is awesome and kinda scary, olympics, psa, curling
