cold, but nifty
eight women plan to ski to the south pole - to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the forming of the british commonwealth. the ladies from cyprus, brunei, jamaica, and ghana would be the first folks from their respective countries to ski to the south pole, and the ladies from singapore, new zealand, and india would be the first women to do so. (there's also a woman from the uk, but evidently she won't be the first brit or even the first british woman to ski down there.) crazy! but also really, really impressive. i mean, ghana! brunei! the south pole! (sadly the jamaican skier had to go home already on account of she got frostbite. which is a total bummer, but the rest of the team is still going to take the jamaican flag with them and hopefully plant it at the south pole in her honor with the rest of their flags.)
imagine being the first cypriot ever to reach the south pole. or the first person from brunei. or the first indian woman. is that not the coolest thing, or what?
