the heat is off in my office, because i think the heat is off in the building, because apparently something broke or maintenance is fixing something or something, and they need a part. of course today would be cold. argh. my boss went to buy some space heaters. one should not be tempted to wear one's coat at one's job, if one works in an office.

on the plus side, we have cupcakes. which, you know, yum. and tonight the parental unit is taking me out for sushi for my birthday.

last night's cm reruns included profiler, profiled (aka "oh morgan" and also "don't you recognize a rocket when you see one?"), no way out (which contains possibly my favorite scene of high-speed spencerbabble ever, which i can't even begin to transcribe because wow, can he talk fast), and the big game, which i watched about twenty minutes of because i turned it on in the middle and then turned it off when spencer and jj split up to check out tobias' barn. really i just wanted to see spencer's "can you let me in, i have to pee" face and jj's "why didn't you go before we left??" reaction. socute. also i like his hair. s2 has some good spencerhair.

hey, i never said i was deep. :D

i really like profiler, profiled (it's morgan-centric and i like a good morgan-centric episode) but it's hard to watch. altho a lot of the team-member-specific episodes are, i've noticed. i mean, you get a garcia-centric episode because she gets shot, and hotch-specific episodes now tend to revolve around haley and jack and hotch's search for foyet, and i think the first jj-centric episode is north mammon which is pretty dark, and i'm not even going to get into the spencer-centric ones because those tend to be the ones i won't watch on repeat. (well, and normal - aka "mitch pileggi loses his mind" - i don't think i could watch that again either, unless i change the channel before the big reveal. and then change it back at the veryvery end, just to see morgan holding jj's baby.)

someone and i can't remember who - possibly youraugustine, or her quoting someone else - pointed out that it's the guys on cm who have the very angsty and/or sexually traumatizing pasts, whereas most dramas give that to the ladies. the ptb flip your expectations a bit, and i like that.

but anyway, profiler, profiled is a good one and i like the slow reveal about the case and morgan's past and the way hotch gives his "i don't want to pull rank in the interests of being diplomatic, but if you don't give us the information we need so we can work this case i can and will go WAY over your head" speech to the cops when the bau first arrives in chicago, and i love it when he does that. i love that he's fully aware of how much power he has at his disposal, but he'd rather not use it if he doesn't have to. i love that he understands he has to work with the local guys, not just run roughshod over them in order to work his case. (except on such occasions when he can't get anywhere unless he does pull rank. see: minimal loss.)

does anyone remember which cm episode has spencer telling jj about comicon while they're on the plane? i think he's trying to convince her to go with him and like pretty much all instances of spencer getting his geek on, it's completely adorable. i want to say i've only ever seen that bit on youtube, which doesn't make a lot of sense to me but i can't for the life of me think which episode it's from, or if it was an outtake. help?

the modified nano does not proceed apace. i think i should've just not done it this year, instead of trying to do it by my own random rules. i'm not keeping up like i would if i was doing it like a normal person. (ie, someone who had all month to write.) i'm not stopping, i'm just not, uh, writing. oy.

my boss has now appeared with a space heater, which is being plugged in and pushed under my desk as we speak. mmmmheat. warm toes make everything better. i have no idea how everyone else in the office is going to cope, but at least i have heat at my desk.

kite surfers jump a pier - under the category of "do not try this at home, kids", a couple of guys wait three years for strong enough winds so that they can essentially get blown over a pier. kinda scary but also really cool to watch.

things what are nifty, criminal minds s2, work, nanowrimo
