The New Weird America
So a few weeks ago i bought this CD by this girl named Joanna Newsom and it's been haunting me ever since. The album is called Milk-Eyed Mender and it's one of the most beautiful albums i've heard in years. You truly need to watch these VIDEO CLIPS OF JOANNA NEWSOME PERFORMING AT THE ICA. Fucking breathtaking. Seriously. Simply gorgeous.
Anyway, I was looking at JOANNA NEWSOME ITEMS ON EBAY today and noticed a hand-made CD that i'm guessing she made herself. On the cd, written with a sharpie, is her name and an email address - unicorntears2000@yahoo.com.....well, i was bored at work this morning so i decided to investigate further. I typed in unicorntears2000@yahoo.com into Google and got a website for a band called LIFE WITHOUT BUILDINGS. Has anyone heard of these guys? I listened to a few tracks and i really really like it. I totally see a Talking Heads influence. Anyway, the reason that site came up was someone posted in their Guestbook with the address unicorntears2000@yahoo.com and they signed it Joanna.
I can't imagine being in a band and having someone like Joanna Newsome sign my Guestbook.
I am in love with this woman.
If someone wants to buy me that cd on eBay for my birthday, i won't complain.
