Well 2016 was another quiet race year, moving 1000+ miles and building a house was distracting enough, so it was never going to be a big race year. Also after 17-years of racing, it's hard to get motivated to do enough training to justify the mostly high race entry fees. I'm liking the Fenix 3 more and more. I hadn't been expecting it to be a "smartwatch" in the tech sector sense, ie emails, calendar etc. and it is. Garmin have just updated the firmware to allow interaction rather than just alerts. I have not played with it a lot yet, but I was able to reject a call by pressing a button on the watch ( Read more... )

We did a 46er this morning for Erins' birthday, starting with 46-mins in the pool at the Twin Creeks Country Club. They'd taken out all the lane ropes ready for the July 4th Party. Six of us doing assorted reps over 46-mins, or 46x50m, the water was surprisingly rough. Who knew.

I did my first full session after an easy week.  I had a 2k set split into 200's.  For the main set I nailed every 200 in 3:22 except the 7th set which I over shot,  and did 250 in 4:12.

A couple more Colins Hope pictures came up after official photographer Lauren got her pictures posted. More remarkable not only did Lauren cover the 8-mile and 4-mile swims, jet around on a jet-ski thingy, get in the water to take the finisher shots, she actually did the swim the weekend before, and then the following week got evacuated from her ( Read more... )

For the record, the swim, went, err, swimmingly.

We managed to work out the logistics perfectly, with Swim Guardian Adri's man Spencer coming out to the start with us, and Ella and Oli coming down to the finish in Tenille Hooglands car...
