Moon's room: Danni, Moon

Aug 15, 2004 17:26

With Danni following her from the stairs, Moon walked into her room. She had felt a little burst of resolve - she was going to tell Danni that last night was a little mistake, and there would be no hard feelings, then go and get her breakfast. But as soon as she and Danni were stood in her room, Moon's streak of courage deserted her, and she just ( Read more... )

Danni looked up and made eye contact with Moon. She had to instantly break it, suddenly remembering how good it felt to kiss Moon. She turned and paced a little, nervous and not sure what to say. She knew she had to apologise but she felt that she could never get across how much she had never wanted either of them to feel this bad.

"Look, I errr.... I shouldn't have done that last night, it shouldn't have happened, I never meant to make you feel uncomfortable, cos you're a friend and it's just not on. I shouldn't have done it, I never wanted to upset you and now I have I just want to make things better." Danni knew she was rambling, but she couldn't help it. She wanted to take all the bad feelings away so that her and Moon could be friends. If that's all they were ever going to be, then at least she would have the memory of their kiss. "I'm so sorry, you must think I'm some kind of freak or something."

Standing there, listening to Danni saying everything she had wanted to say herself, Moon was puzzled to find that she didn't feel relieved. She had a strange feeling of sadness, something taken away, and a troubled frown clouded her face.

"I don't think you're a freak," she said quietly. "I..." Moon trailed off, unable to find the right words to describe what she was feeling. "I'm sorry about the way I acted, I suppose I was taken by surprise." All she had to do now was add, "And I'm sorry I don't feel that way about you, but I'd love us to still be friends." But Moon simply couldn't say the words.

Confused, frustrated, and tired, Moon's only outlet was a river of tears. As they trickled uncontrollably down her cheeks, she turned and tried to hide her face from Danni, feeling ashamed of how over-emotional she was being, sobbing into her hands.

Danni had not been looking at Moon as she started to cry, but there was no mistaking what was happening from what Danni could hear. She turned and saw Moon with her head in her hands beginning to sob. Danni didn't think for a second as to whether it would be the right thing to do or not, she simply went to Moon and put her arms around her, trying to soothe her and stop her crying. She didn't think for a moment as to whether Moon would let her confort her, she just knew that this wasn't right, Moon shouldn't have to feel this upset over what had happened.

"Shhhhhh," She said as she tried to comfort her, "I'm so sorry, I didn't want to make you cry. I just...." Danni stopped, she didn't know how to explain what she was feeling. I just have feelings for you? No, that wasn't going to stop anyone from crying. "Please, just tell me what I can do to make this all go away. I never wanted to hurt you, I don't know why it happened, but it has and I'm so sorry."

Moon felt the gentle arms wrap around her, and though her mind might tell her this was not a good idea, she had never felt such comfort as she did now. She leant her head against Danni's shoulder as she let the sobs subside a little, her breathing becoming more regular and relaxed.

After a while - it could have been seconds, or hours - Moon spoke gently, not moving from Danni's embrace. "I'm scared, Danni," she said, surprised by her own honesty. Being close to Danni like this was so terrifying yet soothing, Moon felt petrified, and yet safe at the same time. "I don't know if this is ever going to all go away."

Moon brushed her tears away with her hand, then instinctively extended her arms round Danni's back, returning her embrace.

Danni felt Moon wrap her arms around her, and felt a small amount of relief. At least Moon wasn't running away from her or pushing her away. "I'm scared too." Danni admitted. She adn't even admitted that to herself until now. "I've never.... done that, ever. I've never wanted to before. I don't know what happened. I'm scared by how I feel Moon, really scared. But most of all I'm frightened that I've hurt you, that I've pushed you away. I'll understand if you don't want to be friends."

Danni fell silent, waiting for Moon's response. Her arms were still wrapped around Moon not wanting to let go, but knowing that any minute now Moon would no doubtedly want to be left alone. She couldn't bear it. If Moon wanted ntohing more to do with her, she just hoped that she would tell her quickly and make it easy for Danni to deal with. She hoped though that Moon could see ith within her to forgive Danni for what had happened.

Moon didn't want to move. Teetering here on the edge of comfort and fear, it felt as if the balance could tip either way if she were to move. As she listened to Danni's words, she was fighting a constant battle between finding the sense and honesty in the voice, taking comfort in the fact that they were just as terrified as each other - and the feeling of incredulity that made her want to yell, "Don't you see how ridiculous we're being? This is wrong, so wrong!"

It was this second voice that made her suddenly pull back from Danni, just as it had the night before. Moon looked Danni in the eye, oscillating between outrage and terror. For what felt like hours they stood, just inches from each other, wordless. Then, that inexplicable and formidable force that had visited them the night before returned, and before she knew what she was doing, Moon had pulled Danni into a powerful, hungry kiss.

As Moon pulled back from Danni, she believed that would be it, no more friendship, nothing. The look in Moon's eye frightened her, she looked so angry and so terrified all at once that Danni was sure that any moment now Moon would take her anger out on Danni for what had happened. Danni looked down, not wanting the see how much damage she had caused, but then, without warning, Moon's lips were against hers once again ( ... )

Moon was shocked by her own desire that drove her on, demanding more from every kiss. She could hardly breathe, such was the intensity of what she felt, what she was feeling for Danni. Her mind was still in opposition, but her heart - and her body - overruled it, ignoring its caution and reprimand in favour of the extraordinary sensations that ran through her.

Only when Danni pulled away was her conscience audible again, still hissing at her, telling her how bad this was - only it seemed to have less impact than before. Looking into Danni's eyes as they both struggled to control their breathing, Moon was unable to grasp any thoughts, any logic.
She brought her hands up to cup Danni's face, resting their foreheads together. "I don't understand what's happening, why I feel like this." Moon's honest whispers seemed to appear from nowhere. "And no, I'm not sure, but I feel like I might explode if I stop." She kissed Danni again, feverishly, before pulling back a little. "What have you done to me?" she gasped.

With every kiss Danni's doubts over whether this was the right thing to do were gradually melting, though she was still scared, frightened of being rejected by Moon, frightened that despite the fact that she seemed to want this that she would see what was happening as abnormal, as wrong. Danni was certain now that this couldn't be wrong. They were both feeling something, there was some kind of connection between them; Danni was unable to explain it or how it came about, but it was there and it was useless to fight it.

"I could ask you the same question." Danni said breathlessly in response to Moon's last question. "I don't know how this happened, at first I didn't want it, I didn't understand it, but now...." Danni broke off and leant in to kiss Moon tenderly. Her head spean and her stomach was dancing crazily as she savoured the texture of Moon's lips. "What do we do now?" She asked as she pulled away once more, as uncertain of their future as Moon seemed to be.

Danni's kisses made Moon's head spin, and there were moments where she simply didn't believe that this could be real. Maybe it wasn't, maybe she had been stuck in the same elaborate dream since last night.

Danni's simple question, What do we do now? confirmed that this wasn't a dream. This was real, happening, and heading towards some unknown outcome.

"I don't know, Danni," she said, shaking her head. It was the truth - until a few seconds ago she had refused to accept that there was anything going on at all, let alone how it could turn out. Since then she had been existing in the moment only - each kiss, each touch - she didn't dare think of anything more. Things seemed to be changing so fast, and Moon could hardly keep up.

Pushing a strand of hair from Danni's face, Moon spoke slowly. "I think... maybe..." Moon had yet again started a sentence without knowing what she was going to say. What were they going to do? Certainly there was no way that anyone could know about this, not ever. Moon was suddenly struck with ( ... )

Danni's face fell when Moon said that they had to keep things quiet. Was this way of saying that she didn't want.... didn't want what? Danni had no idea where this could all go. Was she seriously considering having a relationship with a woman? She guessed she was. She didn't know why this had happened, but it must have happened for a reason. But now, did what Moon said mean she didn't want the same? Danni felt like she was treading on dangerous ground here. She certainly didn't know where she stood on all this, and was desperate for answers. The only trouble was she didn't know what questions to ask ( ... )

Moon was taken aback by Danni's words, a curious tingle running up her spine as she felt Danni's heartbeat, as fast and powerful as her own. For the first time it actually dawned on her that what was happening here might be seen in terms of an affair of some description, the kind of bond that she had only ever thought was possible between a man and woman. It had never occurred to her that it could be any other way.

But now, sitting here, with the way Danni was looking at her, how could there not be? "Of course it means something," she said, desperate to reassure Danni, "it means... I don't know what it means, it confuses me so much. But," she paused, realising that she was trembling, and taking a deep breath, "I know I don't want to lose you." Moon lowered her eyes to rest on her and Danni's entwined hands.

"Me neither." Danni said, relieved to hear what Moon had said. Maintaining eye contact with Moon Danni continued to speak. "I'm confused too, but how can this be such a wrong thing, if it's what we both want?" Danni questioned. Danni hoped it was what Moon wanted too. It was one thing to acknowledge how you feel, but to act on it? That was something else entirely.

"You won't lose me Moon, I promise." Danni said, leaning up to kiss Moon softly once more. Danni had no idea how all this was going to work out, she simply wanted Moon to know she was there for her, and she wanted this to happen. Pulling back, Danni spoke once more. "If you need some time to think, I'll understand." She said, not wanting Moon to think that she was being pressured into doing something she wasn't entirely sure about.

Time to think," repeated Moon absently, once again feeling dizzy from Danni's kiss, this time soft and tender. Thinking was not something that her brain could cope with right now. She felt hazy and disoriented, as if she were detached from the whole situation, just an onlooker who had no idea what was happening.

What is there to think about? The voice in her head laughed suddenly, mockingly. That girl is trouble, and you know it. You always did know how to find trouble. Moon bowed her head ashamedly, a lifelong habit. The voice gained strength. Well... you can't say I didn't warn you, hmm? But no, you just charge on regardless, never thinking about the consequences. Foolish girl!Moon pulled her hand away from Danni's abruptly, pressing her palm against her forehead, willing the voice to stop. But it didn't - it just kept on chiding her, filling her with guilt for what she had done ( ... )
