Episode Four - Sins of the Father

Obviously not going to be as good as the fantasmic Rochvelleth's, but yanno, keeps me happy.

To begin at the beginning.... )

And is it just me that’s noticing Much being a little on the um… useless.. side, when fighting one-on-one?
Kate's boobs distract him.

am I dimwitted and haven’t realised something obvious about what that’s about, or is it something we don’t know about yet?
I think it's just the BBC being raunchy and saying that Allan is a prostitute slut manwhore desirable young man. :D

Am I the only one that thinks that Robin wasn't especially eager to see Kate stay? I think he just knew that she was too proud to come out and ask if she could, so she would need someone to make it clear that an offer was open and all she had to do was say yes.

I will be highly disappointed if at no point in the series, SOMEONE doesn't say, "Hey! Kate's got family in Nottingham! She obviously cares about them enough to potentially whore herself out to save them (aka this episode). That can be used to manipulate her!" It's just common sense really, especially with all of Marian's reasoning for staying in the castle.

I also wonder if Much's "Funny you should mention that," was Much about to try to make a point that Alan 'knows' a lot of tavern girls and therefore may not be the man she wants.

And last, Alan's jibe at Much seemed more of a friendly poke in the ribs than something meant to sting like in the past. To me anyway. I went to a school where if friends made comments like that it meant that they were close enough to not get

Good point! As nasty as the Sheriff & Guy have been in this series, it would be weird if they don't go after Mum & little sis!

Ah yes, that makes sense..

Poor Much! At the end there, watching Allan and Kate banter, I thought Allan wasn't even trying to get Kate, but his innate charm was doing the trick anyway...and Much realized it. There's no way this is going to end happily for all involved.

Definitely no happy ending in store...

I wonder if Much will continue to pursue Kate and if we'll see any tension between him & Allan. She did comfort him a bit after he got punched in the nose. And hopefully she saw & heard his concern when Rufus dragged her away.

Your review is so much better than mine! I intentionally didn't read it until I had written mine, because I like to try to put all my thoughts down independently and then see if other people thought the same thing, and then I find you've picked up on all this stuff I missed :)

I do hope we're not heading for an abusive relationship between Allan and Much - I'd rather see a threesome than that! And also yay for plot bunnies :D

Thank you for this, great review!

Haha I do that too, I intentionally didn't look at yours last week until I'd re-watched the ep and made my own notes.
Oooh, threesome indeed... I don't think it'll go bad between them, hopefully Much will twig that she's not actually interested. Bless 'im.
And awww, you're welcome lovvie!

I'm in Australia and haven't seen any of Season 3 yet (although I've been spoiling myself with this comm's dutiful episode highlights/lowlights posts), and to hear that Much's fighting being dumbed down in this series is quite sad. I always enjoyed how in the first two seasons it was evident that Much really could hold his own in regards to fighting. No matter how badly the gang made fun of him, he was arguably one of the best fighters in the gang. He did survive the Holy Lands, after all!
I hope this improves in further episodes. :(

Also, thanks to you and Rochvelleth for doing these episode thoughts! They're a lot of fun to read!

Ooh, you're welcome! I did of course, steal the whole reviws idea from Rochvelleth with a staggering disregard for polite society's practices, but oh well.
Yeah, I think Much was probably the best fighter, I know Robin's got all his fancy show-off moves but his real talent's with the bow. It's not really fair at all, but then we all know by now how unjust the show often is to poor Much. Maybe if we're lucky he'll do something really kick-ass later on to show how good he is. We can dream.
