Allan was both surprised and ashamed to realise that his hands shook as he began to undo the first buckle of his shirt.
He didn’t know why this simple task was suddenly too much for him. He’d already past the point of going back. He’d crossed and burnt his bridges long ago.
This was just the final phase of his transgression.The snake shedding a skin that has outgrown it, to fit in to a new one.
But something about it still seemed too final, as though, with his clothes, he is also casting off his friends. The people who used to be his friends.
An arm wrapped around Allan, placing a hand at his throat, whether to strangle him or hold him or just be close to him, he wasn’t sure.
“I think black will suit you, Allan.” Guy’s voice a low rumble in his ear.
He was probably right. He was also probably saying it because he thought that complementing Allan would be the fastest way to get him to comply. He was right about that too.
