Either the electronic driver or the backlight lamp died on Delilah's LCD.

Delilah is my laptop. I'm grateful that my last roommate abandoned her old desktop, because right now I have the desktop monitor hooked up to my laptop. I'm idly wondering if being hauled all over southern California has anything to do with this, and also wondering if my assumption that replacing the LCD lid is more expensive than replacing the entire laptop.

Naturally, I was going to reformat Delilah this month. Figures. 9_9

Anyway, since I cannot afford a new laptop right now, it looks like reformatting the desktop got kicked up in priority.
...Now I've gotta figure out how to do that. ^^;;;

So. Anybody got any recommended notebooks or laptops? Anything with Vista on it is going to be met with crosses and holy water, and perhaps a T_T-faced attempt at learning Linux.

And is it odd that I think file transfering and adjusting to a mac would be easier than file transfering and adjusting to Linux? I feel technologically insecure when it comes to my software-fu. Maybe I should find some local geeks willing to tutor a cute girl.

ALSO, I am not in love with the new version of Opera. It has most of the old things, plus lack of one-key back/forward (alt+arrow instead of z or x), and problems with fields in LJ and other sites... checking a ticky box requires me to REMEMBER if I've clicked it, as the check mark does not show up.

Maybe I should use the desktop as a Linux learning box... which will be interesting, because the desktop doesn't have any internet access. It has to get downloads from CDs burned by the laptop. Or a flash drive, but I can't find mine, and I only had one anyway.
And they share a monitor. ^^;;; WHEE

*puts "price external hard drives, flash drives, notebooks" on the to-do list*

wait- what?, petition the internet, events, wtf, rl, ...trees grow money right?, tech support should learn to suck better
