American sharpshooter who was a star in Buffalo Bill's Wild West show. According to wikipedia this made her the first "American female superstar".

1809 - Alfred Lord Tennyson
One of the great Romantic English poets. His great work "In Memoriam" was written for his great friend (and suspected lover) Arthur Hallam. Unfortunately, for modern scholars of gay history, both Hallam and Tennyson's families burned the majority of their correspondence.
